If anyone has horses, please read this!
They have postponed a cuttting horse competition here in Tulsa for this weekend because of the viris. It could be anywhere.

I talked to my friends in Calif. He is the West Coast Director of the Junior Rodeo Ass and they said there are 9 cases in Calif. 2 of those were in Bakersfield. 1 Horse has died the other was sent up to Davis Vet College for treatment. They have finals this weekend and right now their trying to figure out what to do.
oh noo! poor things! I hate that is happening.
FAYE, you are working too hard. please be careful!
I still owe you and Ken boy some brugs I think, but I have lost a few since we all talked. Will see what you want that I have left, if you could remind me in a dmail.
Time is running out for me and trades, I am trying to get as much done between work and work at home, before I start my weekends to arkansas. I sure wish I could go to the RU. You all have fun for me, please.
Hey Crit.. did you find the Superthrive you were looking for? They have a web site.. http://www.superthrive.com I have a large bottle of it that I bought from them. I could probably put an ounce in a small bottle and send some to you if you can't find it. It is lots of vitamins and minerals. You should see what it does around the edge of the bottle where it dries. You only add a few drops to a gallon of water.
Was watching the news.. officially only point .11 inch of rain for the year and none since last september really... don't even remember rain except it rained when I was in Dallas in January so I got to see rain then. I miss rain! ... and so do my plants.
Hi Tammie, long time no see.. * hugs*
Hello...Good to be back.. I lost the thread somehow and found it by random browsing. I lost most of my plants including my brugs this winter when my garage door did not go down one night that it was 14... everything froze. I am cruizing the Walmarts and Lowes for inexpensive plants to put in the pots. I have not worked since the first of November so $$ if tight but I can't stand empty pots. Just sent out checks for daylilies for mom.. dad killed off a bunch again this year. He is an expert at that! Mom gets so upset when she had empty spots in her flowerbeds and expects me to fix it every year.
She has just about polished off all my bags of composted manure too. I buy the cheap $2 fresh bags and stack them out of the way... they will sit in the back behind a big plant and compost/mature for a year. I have 2 bags left from last year and I sent 2 bags to moms yesterday.. we have really gone through them! Just bought 12 bags to start next years. The composted manure is almost $6 per bag so you can see the savings stacking it and letting it sit for a year myself. I mix that stuff in EVERYTHING.. potting soil, anywhere I am working in a flowerbed..wherever I am working in dirt. It is sand here and it helps the soil. Some day I will have put enough out that my ground may look less like red sand... that sure would be nice.
That's very nice of you Tammie. I'm still looking around here. Need to check a couple of nurseries and home depot. If all else fails, I'll order it from online, but thank you so much for the offer!
Good morning everyone. Debra, no you didn't send me plants, but do not worry about it. As for Brugs, unless it is one I have never had, please do not send them. I have Brugs everywhere, in lots of spaces there are 3 in one hole.
Susan, your name was already on yellow Iris, lol imagine that, me trying to force you to take them...well, I have to many and cannot , just cannot toss them. Yellow Iris to the RU...will do.
Love & Hugs.
Hint! Hint! I wouldn't turn down yellow iris either.
Hello marti...watch your mail next week.
Will do! Thanks!
I have one I think I got from you that says Yard Sale Yellow. Is that the name or did it really come from a yard sale???? ^_^
Yep Crit, it is Yard Sale Yellow because the lady that had it had no idea what it was or the name, therefore I called it YSY so I could identify it. It is a beautiful plant and one that comes back each year.
Edited to add...it did come from a yard sale.

Shucks Faye, the Yard Sale Yellow that I had from you made all the way through winter and then died. None of the brugs planted in the ground came back. So I am going to dig in the ones I had rooted and potted up. I can't move containers around anymore. Too much work. So I will just plant them every spring and take the cuttings in the Fall. They worked in the bubbler pretty well. Didn't lose too many.
Thank you for the clumps of Yellow Iris, Faye! Love you lady, and you're a sweetie sharing them with us.
R U still needing Patio Pretty Plants, Faye?
Same here NEENER To Old to carry those pots so i hope to maybe to figure a way of just taken cuttings but how do you or can you winter them without potting them ? I had my cuttings in small pots just took them all outside a couple days ago & potted them up in bigger pots , not sure if they are going to make it or not.
Guess time will tell.
finely warmer dry weather for today then more rain for the weekend I have 3 boxes i hope i can get boxed up today & sent out. so wishing you all a great weekend . I'm going to be outside if weather permits :)
good day to all
susie
We have been getting our April showers this week. Right now we have a BIG storm getting ready to go through. I'm looking forward to the rain, just hope it doesn't downpour and do nothing but run off.
Goodness it's hot here today. Did some work in the yard...little mulching, moving plants, got to much Sun again and came back in the house about 1:15. I planted Morning Glories seeds in cups and have way more than I can use, so will be bring some to the RU along with yellow Iris, YSY Angel Trumpet (for Nita), purple Dutch Iris, and maybe white, yellow and purple Dature. May even have pink, yellow and red Hibiscus plus may be able to get a few red Border Lilies. Really not sure what I can find but you can be sure I'm looking.
I had several Angel Trumpets come back from last year but they are not as large now as those I rooted. Don't think I will try to over winter them in pots anymore...to easy to take cuttings and start over.
Debra, always love plants.
Edited to say I was thinking RU when I posted, sorry, plant info was meant for RU Forum

No you didn't ..... you just wanted to tease us!!!!! :-)
Lol Patti, really I did. Susan your yard is awesome. That has to take a lot of hard work.
Mine's nothing compared to yours, Faye. Here's a pic of the new bed Hubby tilled for me last month. Ignore the grass in the middle --- it's history and have been raking up dead clumps and picking up rocks on days it hasn't rained or wasn't too soggy to get out there. Slowly making progress using a wheelbarrow and a rake, but I'm getting there.
Beautiful beds there girls. I'm so envious! I'm having fun getting mine set up, but sure covet the established ones you all have.
Susan, love that space. Keep us posted as you plant.
I was vetoed on having another new bed down the other side of the driveway but did at least get a new one. Heck, if I had my way we'd have very little grass to mow, which is now costing $20 in gas about every 4 days. Will do, Faye.
They're only two years old, Patti. You can do it and want to see your progress too.
FOTV
I know what you mean about grass. My sister, who does not yard work wants grass, but I'm the one who does the mowing, weeding edging etc. If I had my way there would be not grass. Heck what we have is not even grass, this used to be pasture land and they just mowed down the pasture grass. So we have all kinds of weeds growing that I mow down every week. Of course, unless things change for her, she might not be around here much longer. She is getting weaker and having more trouble just getting around in the house and this trailer is not set up for a wheelchair to get around in. If she becomes wheelchair bound we will have to place her in a home where they can take care of her. With my spinal injury I can not left her to take care of her. Of course if she drives me to insanity first, I can sit in the funny farm and play with my fingers and she can figure out how to take care of herself. I escaped on Thursday and went to Greensburg, in Western KY got back this afternoon. And my nerves are already tied up again.
Marti, what wrong with your Sister? Sorry to hear she is not doing well.
She has diabetis, and she has reduced blood flow to her legs and she likes to be waited on. She was getting physical therapy at home, but would only do it when the nurses were here. She tells the doctor that she is trying to do her exercises and she isn't doing anything. I get so angry at her, but it does me no good to try and talk to her, she just sulks and says she should just hike off into the mts and die. No one cares for her.
I came out here knowing she needed a little help, but did not realize that she was going to dump everything on me. All house work, laundry, cooking, cleaning, dishes and yard work has become my chores. Than I have to take breaks and get her a sandwich or a cold drink because she says her legs just done want to get moving. I have a spinal injury that limits what I can do especially with lifting, but she decided to take a wheel chair with us to the store and I have to lift the darn thing into and out of the Jeep. Plus I've had surgery on both knees and right wrist and right elbow. I need to have surgery on my right shoulder and wrist again, but have to wait until I get Medicare insurance next year. There are times I think she forgets or egnores the fact that I have health issues also that limit me.
Sorry to dump on you all. I just don't know what to do. I took off on Thursday and went down to a friend of hers in Western KY. I just slept and did whatever I wanted until This morning than came home to more from her. She had made an appointment to go see some of her friends across town, BUT did not have the address, phone # or directions I found out when we got across town. All she could remember is to go down a certain road and turn left on the fist road after the bridge. We crossed over a small "bridge". A place where they had put a pipe under the road way to keep the water from filling up and going over the road. Was that the bridge they were talking about or was there a BRIDGE further alone the road. She didn't know. We came home she got the phone # and said lets go. I had waited in the Jeep. We get back over there and she had not even called from the house, so she called them when we got across town and guess what, call goes to voicemail. We parked and waited for 1/2 hr than she decides we should come home. They called just after we got here adn she told them to come get her. She knew I was pissed off and did not want to go out again.
Sorry about that marti. Being keyed up all the time is not good for you and no fun!
Oh Marti, I sure wish there was something I could do to help relieve the many stresses you're under. Small consolation having a short break and then coming back home to chaos and a day like you had today. Really do hope life will start looking brighter for you soon. You moved across the Country having no idea what you were in for, my hat's off to you. {{{Hugs, My Friend}}}
Wanted to share a pic of the first Daylily that bloomed today, a NOID seeding rec'd in a trade two years ago.
So very sorry marti that it was not what you expected. There is no way I could do all that with the health issues I have, and it isn't as extensive as you! Neck and back surgery, Fibromyalgia and arthritis in my hands and minorly in other joints. I do well to take care of my self and my husband. We hired a lady a month ago to clean for us. She comes every 2 or 3 weeks and does the heavy stuff. Have found that it is going to be difficult for me to get all my flowers and plants potted up this year. They really get to hurting and I have to stop. It even hurts to type, but that doesn't stop me from being on here. ^_^
I have some lilies that are about to bloom. They are some I planted last year and didn't save the names. At that point it wasn't important to me! LOL
Thanks for letting me vent!! I miss my son and grandson in Calif. I'm still trying to save up enough money to head out there after the 20th of July. I plan to stay out in Calif til August 20th. I'm stopping on the way out to visit with a DG'er and than on the way home I'm stopping into see ButterflyChaser.
The lady I went to visit, her nickname is West< has asked me to work for 10 days with her selling fireworks. She is going to pay me and I get to spend about 12-13 days with her. My sisters daughter says she help take care of her mom while I'm gone.
WOW!! I've got thunder rolling in. I guess we're going to have some more rain.
Marti, sending lots of prayers and hugs your way. I used to take care of my Dad. He is a stroke victim, and lives in a wheel chair, and everything has to be done for him. Feeding, bathing... He is with my Sister now, so it does not get too stressful on one of kids for too long. Praying you will be able to make your trip.
((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))
Keep on keeping on, gals. At least we have each other to lean on and I'm thankful to have each of you in my life every day :)
Thanks for the prayers!! I need them. Its raining here now. I mowed part of the yard when I got home this afternoon than the mower ran out of gas. So now I have to go get fuel for it and hope it stops raining so I can finish mowing. Than I have to edge the beds and plant some more daylilies. My neighbor brought them to me. Have no idea as to kind that they are. May just be ditch lilies, but I'll put them in a corner by themselves and see what they are. A couple of them have flower buds/

Finally got a few pictures of the changes in the yard this year. We had to have some pretty large trees taken down and this is the stump of the one that fell on the house. Decided to make it my lizard garden. Still planting the bed so I'll get some photos of that when it's finished. Would have had it done today, but then the ran came up again.
Love the lizard garden... That is really nice!
