MY APPLE TREE HAS HARDLY ANY BLOSSOM?

Rayleigh, United Kingdom

Hi, I am new here and I would really appreciate some expert advise.
I have a Cox orange pippin tree and Last year had my first crop, I had to thin it down as I had too much fruit and I also had to support the branches as the weight of the crop would have broken the branches.
The fruit was fantastic and really healthy.
This year however I only have about 15 flowers, most of the branches have only leaves ?
Is this normal will I have a year with hardly any fruit?
This tree is only about 5 years I would say, I pruned the branches as I did last year in February and took off 1/3 off the new growth.
Thank you for your help with my tree.

Some trees have fruit every other year. I just know what I read, & I'm not that schooled on apple trees. I have l tree, which is about 4 years old & it has not had any fruit, but it does not have another one to pollinate from. However, I bought a small apple tree, which is l year old I guess, & it will have to grow up before it can pollinate. Here in texas, everything needs regular watering.
