I bought my loropetalum in 2008 when we first moved to South Carolina, dropped it in a pot on the deck and there it's stayed. I fertilize it annually. It did just give a nice batch of spring flowers, but now that the flowers are gone, it's looking really sad and sparse. Do I need to prune? Is it something else? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
Loropetalum - it needs help!
It could be in need of repotting--if the roots have totally filled up that pot it makes it next to impossible to keep the plant watered properly and that can cause plants to look ratty.
I agree with ecrane. Looks like it's probably root bound.
