i did many cutting and all were sucessful, after transplanting them from the liners to 1g i put them in an area under spriklers receiving sun , then they started dying ( i thought its because not enough water since it was being obstructed by taller plants & too much sun) so i moved them to a shady area under an avocado tree hardly sun gets in there, still with the same water sprinklers and still some are dying. i have fertilized them and many are growing taller but as i said there are plenty that are dying or rotting. now i wonder if its too much shade and the soil is mostly moist that it causes them to rot and die.
so does anyone know what i should do? what am i doing wrong?
what does this plant like? when i bought it at a nursery they had it in full full sun and the plants were 1' tall no problem there.
what am i doing wrong with these cuttings? help
They may have gotten sunburned. When you've had something growing in a shady spot and you move it to somewhere that's got more sun you need to do it gradually. Even if the plant would normally grow in full sun you've got to adjust it gradually. Sunburn's not usually fatal though--leaves that got badly sunburned may die but the plant itself should recover as long as there's not some other problem going on. Your mention of rotting suggests there may be some overwatering going on too.
I agree with e-crane, plants go through a little bit of a shock when transplanted. Just let them be and let nature take its course.
