problems with my romaine lettuce and buttercrunch lettuce

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Hey everybody!! I have a small garden in fredericksburg, va, and my 3 romaine lettuce plants are not doing very well. Many of the lettuce leaves are laying on the ground instead of forming a tight bunch. The plants have only been in the ground for one week. I don't know if this problem is coming from too much water or not enough plant food. The high temperatures in my area have been in the 60s with a couple days in the low 70s. Is this problem happening because the temperatures haven't been consistently warm? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm here in florida (10b) and had the same problem. I think they just need to get acclimated to your soil and the new environment. My romaine are starting to do well, although not 'salad' status yet.

I also have head lettuce on the other side of the garden, six plants, but only two of them seem to be doing well, so, just give it time. just keep it watered, but not too much.
