LOL @ Mrs. Ed & her towhee
No Juncos here anymore either. Last one was I believe Wednesday.
Nice Rockminer!
I love Adel's Steller's Jay & burn's SS Hawk!
Good to see you rockminer! Nice shots!
That is interesting duc!!
Great shots guys!
Adel, you have a great variety of birds. Still cold here, 23 degrees this morning. The orchard Frost fans started shortly after midnight and are still running at 7:15am. My regulars, quail, goldfinches, house finches and hosp. are here every morning.
Very nice photos everyone. Thanks
Donna
Awww, what cutie is that little Bushtit. Duc, the Hooded Oriole strikes a perfect pose among the Redbuds blooms! Oooh, I just got a lifer, lifer...pix to come....
FYI, Mallards already has their first brood down South. It was a nerve-raking experience, but I saw the first brood yesterday. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1174128/
duc............................I'll trade you some Steller's for some Orioles.
Lily, I enjoyed your story on the Mallards, thanks. Congratulations on the new lifer-he's a beautiful bird. Great shot of the rookery. I get to see ours next week at our Heron Festival.
Adel, you have a deal!
Went out again this morning to see what I could get a picture of, and it was raining so no luck, I heard the pileated again, but of course could not find him. I am trying to be patient, I went on this one web page and this lady said she tried for two years to get a shot of him, and she was in her back yard and heard him pecking behind her and finally got a shot. Two years, I don't know if I have enough patience for that! Patience has not been one of my virutes! I will keep trying for now, I will go out tomorrow and see what I can see and hear, any tips or suggestions would be helpful.
Wonderful shots duc! Love the Bushtit and Hooded Oriole.
Beautiful Lily!
I have made a decision, I am not going to look for him anymore until I hear him pounding on a tree trunk, or hear his laugh. I just went out and went to two trees where I was sure he was, and of course it got darker and I couldn't see that good, so he could have been above me and I would not have been able to see him. Maybe when it gets warmer and the days are longer I can look somemore. Mean while the Downies, and the Red bellied woodpeckers provide excellent photo opportunties. Here is Mama scoping out her domain on our Cottonwood tree, they seem to be on that tree quite a bit.
Yes, the Tanager was here for a brief visit then it was gone. :((
Gp, that's nice to watch the two raptors playfully at each other. Cool pix.
All those Herons, that must of been some sight!!! Congrats on your new lifer, Kim.
Duc, love your yellow birds, so bright, just what I needed. ;) Glad to see the Purple finch. Mine are still a no show, I always have my nose in the window, looking for them.
GP, I never knew Ospreys and Eagles played together!
The Evening Grosbeak were around this morning.
Burn, as a southerner, it is difficult to imagine snow on the ground in April. Last Sunday was a beautiful day here (sending spring thoughts your way), and I spotted a new lifer for me, a Northern Parula. Very distinctive call, which I had heard for a number of days, but couldn't figure out who owned it. Here he is, belting it out.
It's hard to think of our friends up North with snow this time of year. It feels like summer is already here during the days! Burn, we don't have your winter, but we do not have the priviledge of your Redpolls either. Gg, congrats on your 'lifer' N. Parula. He's sweet! And the Bunting. I'd be very excited if I ever get a Bunting down here.
Male BlueBird in our area.
