Had a short break in the weather, so I sat on the front porch for an hour and got some pics.
Dark-eyed Junco
Daily bird pics #394
Awww, Nan it's a priviledge to have deers visit. lol. The Brown Thrasher and Cardinals they are very busy aren't they? Teddy, have you seen any hummingbird there yet? Adel, I'm so loving that Steller Jay, very impressive looking bird in any setting. I don't believe we've them here. My Carolina Wren;
No, I have not seen any here yet, I have the feeders ready to fill when I do see them. We always put the large feeder in the same place every summer, then we will put out the single ones.
Oh gp! Never seen such ailment on birds. Poor guy!
Awww, Nice series there Burn, come to think of it. I haven't seen a Junco in weeks. Nice one you've got there. Sharp looking hawk, poor guy, I'm glad it made it through. Gardenpom, love those visitors you've on the platform feeder. How high off the ground is it set?
Lone Canadian Goose sitting out the rain the other day. Oh, thank goes to Resin for helping me identify a pair of female Red-breasted Mergansers, another lifer for me. The pic. isn't quite as good so I'm waiting 'til next photo opt.
GP, That's a shame about the Cardinal.
Nice pics everyone!!
I had something interesting in the yard today. First time ever I had 2 adult female Red-bellied Woodpeckers. They were both around the feeders until 1 started aggressively chasing the other away.
Thanks Kim.
Burn, any time. :)) Okay, here is last one from me tonite. American Coots gathered here to say goodbye? I haven't seen them since. The weather has became quite balmy last few days down here. Farewell my 'snow birds'. I shall see them again in the Fall. One thing about spring migration, many of my friends up North get to see and keep my snow birds. The bonus for me is that I get so see some migrants such as the Mergansers, and Pelicans during their journey.
Good night to all.
Nice ones lily!
Cape May has a great visitor right now, an "Audubon's" Yellow-rumped Warbler. http://cmboviewfromthecape.blogspot.com/
Thanks Pelle for the link about Cape May. A place I need to visit if I ever wandering up North. Crow patrols its usual staking out place. These big birds usually perch high up on their favorite spot--a Sweetgum tree by the lake. But seldomly come to the grains feeder. I saw one with a beak full of nesting material the other day.
Good variety. I'm glad to see everyone has birds. I have pretty much the usuals. Had some visiting Cedar Waxwings, a pair of Black-chinned Hummers and a Ruby-throat this a.m.
Checked on the BB babies and for the second morning straight, I couldn't get them to open their mouths. Really growing and getting feathers. Nine-days old today.
Heard our elusive pd wp this a.m. But could not pinpoint his location, if the rain holds off for a while, may go out and see if I can locate him, the sound echos and so you can't tell very easily where he is.
