I'd like to grow some sunflowers from seed. Can anyone recommend a mildew resistant variety? Thanks...

I found this article with links to varieties of mildew resistant sunflowers.

Thanks themoonhowl,
I've seen that too. That's for farmed sunflowers. It's garden varieties I hope to find.
These folks offer one variety called Ballad that is listed as mildew resistant

My husband just informed me that Syngenta has developed a number of resistant sunflower seeds. They are distributed through Garst and Golden Harvest and NK seed retailers. (should have asked him first as he works for Syngenta....grin)
themoonhowl,
Thanks again. I've e-mailed Northrup King. Previously I grew some NK Lemon Queen sunflowers which did well 'till late summer, then the mildew took over. I have Mammoth seedlings in the garden now.
Good Luck CC. Sunflowers are always so striking in the garden. It is a shame when things go wrong with them. It has been so dry down here, the only time we have a mildew problem is if I get lazy about how i water...grin

Mammoth has escaped mildew (and mites) for a second year. Sunshine on the other hand has just germinated and then deteriorated. Some kind of root disease, it seems.
Glad to hear you at least found one variety that will grow and do well for you.
