That is creeping charlie, a very obnoxious weed. Pull it out by the roots or it will quickly spread everywhere.

Looks like henbit to me. Does it have purple blooms?

pull it forsure...i hate pretty weeds..LOL ..decieving they are

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Looks more like henbit to me as well, but in either case I'd pull it.

Looked it up and read that henbit and creeping charlie are often confused. It says that creeping charlie has a more blue flower and henbit has a purple flower.

Have to admit that what we call creeping charlie here has a purple flower!

What I said earlier still applies, though. It's a stubborn one, pull it.

My daughter asked me what to use to get rid of creeping charlie in the lawn that wouldn't harm their reptiles when they are getting their fresh air and a little food. Way beyond my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated.

Call me weird, strange, demented...whatever. I like creeping charlie! I have a lot of it in my backyard and it stays low to the ground- I don't have to mow- it stays green and when it blooms I have rivers of color. Best of all- it was free.

Thanks for the post. It should really help gardeners to keep flowers on the go all year.

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 4b)

The only sure and safe way to get rid of it is to pull it.
