Any hope for this Weigela florida variegata?

Hi all....

I planted this and two other variegated weigela this past fall. They all look like this right now. No apparent buds that I can see. Everything else I have has buds now.

Can I expect these weigela to bud, or are they dead?

It's hard to say--they might be dead but I'd give them a bit longer before you give up on them.

I would wait a bit longer, too. Try scratching the bark at various places and see if it's green under there.

I have weigalas too and mine show no sign of life yet. They are really late risers LOL. My tree of paradise has no leaves yet either.
