Yes, the little boogers are already descending on my poor little key limes. They were horribly infested with leaf miners last year, so I cut them back to nubs. The trees have rebounded beautifully, but today I picked off about six or seven of the nasty caterpillars. Am I doomed to picking daily?
Key limes and "bird poop" caterpillars
This is the season for the catapillars. They will turn ito butterflies soon, & the pillers will go away till next year.
Your lucky if you ask me. Sounds like giant swallowtail butterfly caterpillars, one of NA largest butterflies. We don't have them in CA. I can't even ship them here. Makes me wanna grow key limes.... ;)
Martnart, they do become swallowtails, and I would be happy to ship you mine. I'll even throw some of my hornworms in! ;)
Thanks, but I'm sure that California Dept of Ag would frown at the idea... And I have all the hornworms I need, thank you ;)
Still ur offer is tempting..... lol
HAHAHAHHAHAHAAH! Yes, they probably would.
