Hi,
I have lots of tulip leaves that are tall and green but no stems or buds? Just random leaves. last year tulips bloomed. Why would this happen? In another area I have tulip buds that are ready to open.
tulip leaves but no tulip???
They are not long lived. The Darwins are the best I've grown and the most reliable for blooming in future years. Sorry!
I know it can be frustrating when tulip don't last that many years. Iv'e read a bit about the best consistant bloomers. Now I only buy: fostoiana, greggii, Darwin, Triumph and appledorns. Also any species tulips last many years, some of these will even multiply. Some of the tricks to make them bloom longer(years), 1( plant deeper, if it suggests planting 6", go 8-10", they bloom just fine but tend to live longer. 2)give bulb food and or some triple super phosphate and scratch into ground. 3) could dig bulb and divide and #2 under bulbs. Hope that helps. Good Luck, Kathy
oops, fostoriana, these are very tall and late in the season. Good Luck, Kathy
