i have battled this nutgrass for so many years but i cannot get rid of it!!! it's in the lawn, it's in my raised flower and vegetable beds, it's even in the front lawn. my vegetables do not do well at all- i have put down a good weed cloth and bark over that in the vegetable beds but it still comes up around the edges and up through the X cut in for the actual plants. is there any way to kill this stuff out for good? i have tried manage and roundup but with the manage i can't spray this stuff in with plants that i'm going to eat from!

You may have to sacrifice not having a veg garden in the spots that have nutgrass for a year or two. That is what I am in the process doing now. I have dug them up and sprayed 'Image' on them for two years now. I have decreased the population of them drastically but there always seems to be some there in the spring and summer. You may wanna do a google search on nutsedge because there are two types: yellow and purple i think. One chemical may only kill one type so you need to do a little bit more research so you can identify the correct nutgrass and get the appropriate spray. Good luck. They are really hard to get rid of.
