My mother had a good sized tree cut down, leaving a stump that is about 2 inches tall in the yard. She has decided that I will plant flowers there so no one will fall over it. Putting a pot on it with flowers looked rather silly sitting out in the middle of nowhere. She doesn't care what colors, just so all she has to do is add water. (I know, I know, I'll be taking care of it.) It is in full morning sun, some very late in the day shade.
Any suggestions?
Thank you! Cathy
planting to cover a stump
If the pot is big enough to cover the whole stump it won't look silly, then you can plant flowers around it too, any tall full sun perennial would do....Rudbeckia, Daylily, Echinacea, Campanula, Coreopsis,Dianthus, etc or even ornamental grass...depending on what kind of look your going for
thanks, I hadn't thought of flowers around the pot/stump, too. That would look much better.
