Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

so sorry Bill, Celeste and anyone else getting snowed on again... great shot Andy

My fav magnolia blooming, "Elizabeth" I hope our wintery weather hasn't killed the buds this year.

That's the bad thing about many mags.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Yes, but so pretty! I have one that has never bloomed. If nothing this year, out she comes!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I love them. Later bloomers like sieboldbii and virginiana avoid that problem and are still nice.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Nice Magnolia Doris!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Ronnie, your neighbor's hellebore is really pretty!

Doris, I love the magnolia.

Andy, that poor thing looks cold!

Sorry some of you got snow. We got very little here, though last night I was driving home in a blizzard.

wow a nice big one!!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I know some got snow yesterday, as I have been up in Boston doing more pottery for a upcoming show and I had to scrap a couple inches off my car yesterday before driving to the studio, but according to DH we just had rain in Nantucket. We had our first Narcissus out before April 1, Rijnveld's Early Sensation, and several more clumps about to pop. Crocus by the zillion are out.

This is a photo that I took on Weds that is a hopeful sign that spring is here despite that white stuff. I love these as these kids do seem to take their name to heart and are shouting out Spring is Here!!!! They do look like a chatty little cheerful bunch when they open up. Love them, plus they are always early. They may open up today so I will miss they debut as I will not go back until tomorrow, but they will be out for a while.

Winter pansies

Thumbnail by luvsgrtdanes
Thomaston, CT

My daffs have some buds, my pansies made it through the winter, but look kind of scraggly....shops are selling pansies now, so I think I'll just look at some LOL.....

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I want to our local nursery the other day and they were selling pansies 4.99 for a four pack, thought that was ridiculous! They were big and pretty but in another month or two they peter out with the heat.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow, that's crazy.

South Hamilton, MA

Even if you deadhead them? I have to plant pansies near the house so I remember to do that.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

They are so tempting this time of year.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

my part shade spot .. they stay nice until July

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Same here, and bloom again in the fall.

Thomaston, CT

I bought 2 packs of violas today....2.25 a pack.....& there were 6 in each pack....of course, I remember when there were 8!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I get tired of deadheading them..LOL
I saw them cheaper at another nursery and Lowe's but this particular nursery kind of "specializes" in pansies, guessing that's why they are so high.

South Hamilton, MA

I start out with enthusiasm, but when the flowers get smaller & smaller I sort of give up.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Maybe thats why I'm not over the moon about them.

Oh that's pretty!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Sarahskeeper, great shot. Some of ours are open too, but only the Chionodoxa forbesii Blue Giant that is the one that is a great soft blue with a big white eye. Such a pretty flower.

Our first tulips came out yesterday. I got home today, so they were a bit soggy and not looking as perky, but DH took this shot yesterday. It is planted with a purple crocus which is a stunning combo. I will take a wide shot tomorrow. They have come back each year nicely for now the third season. Patti

Great shot, Andy!

That's a gorgeous tulip, Patti. Will have to consider that one seeing as it comes back reliably.

The other Tulip that is also out is Tulip Division 12 - Kaufmanniana Showwinner. It is a wonderful bright red that has mottled foliage and has been in the garden since 2006, though I did add more in 2009 so I need to go out and count and see how many we have now out of the 32 that I planted in total. I recently ordered a whole mess of them for another spot that needs to be tuliped-up (new word for the bulb world) for the fall. I have it planted with Crocus vernus Jeanne D'Arc which I love. Patti
