Hi,
Is dandelion comes in different flower colors, if yes, Are all dandelion plants edible?
About Dandelion
I've only seen them in yellow, but that don't mean a thang. You may have something special. Dandelions are edible. I've never put one in my mouth though. I think they are treated as an herb.
Dandelions are only yellow, although there are other things in the same family that come in other flower colors, so if you want something that looks similar but has pink flowers you could probably find one. Not everything in the family is edible so you'd have to post back here with the exact plant that you're thinking of and someone could tell you if it's edible or not.
My great grandmother used to add new leaves to her salads to add a lemony taste and her friend made dandelion wine. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Dandelion-Wine
My dad used to use the leaves in salad, also
Dandelion roots are also edible. They are usually roasted. . . have been used medicinally, as a coffee substitute & as a vegetable.
Dandelion roots can also be roasted and dried and used as a caffeine free substitute for coffee.
The leaves are good for digestion and can be used as a very mild laxative and diuretic. Its also been reported that Dandelion will also help lower and stabilize blood sugar.
They can be eaten in salads or made into tea. Decoctions can be made from leaves and flowers to use as a topical antibacterial treatment.
Flowers are made into wine and teas.
The white sap of the Dandelion can be directly applied to the skin to ease the pain and irritation of insect bite, bee stings and minor sores an abrasions and is also useful in getting rid of acne, warts and calluses.
They are very high in Vitamins A and C and contain more Beta Carotine than carrots and more Potassium than either Broccoli or Spinach.

totally didn't know that, I knew that you can put the sap from Broadleaf Plantain to relieve insect bite pain
There are alot of plants and herbs that will serve the same purpose. almost every plants has either an edible or medicinal use if not both - just depends on how you apply it. And lots of individual plant species can be used for a variety of ailments depending on how they are prepared ie:tea's, tincures, decoctions, salves etc.
There's an herb farm a bit north of me that has wonderful open house, classes and tours, amazing when you learn all the uses for the plants and what we consider weeds
Aside from all its other properties, if you will leave a dandelion alone it will pull up minerals--notably potassium. I pull the blooms off and let it work!
