Daily Bird Pictures, Vol. 390

South Hamilton, MA

It would make a lovely print, contrast of the blue & the pink & yellow flowers.

Melbourne, FL

Thanks. I usually don't see the Indigos here this late in their brilliant blues.

We had indigos in our CT garden, but sadly not here.

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Wow
Great colors in the birds further south than me!
I must admit that I am a bit jealous, maybe it's Zone envy, all the green and blooms too!
Anyway I now have a new bird that I haven't been able to ID it is a brown and cream sparrow sized one.
I hope this is the place to put it's photo.

Wonderful photos, all.

Not too colorful, but attractive and a lifer!, so I was happy to see it!

Wrentit.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Fairly friendly little bird, but didn't come out into the open too much.

Unlike the Bushtits, this bird feeds close to the ground.

Yes, love that Wrentit, Tiger. Nan please send me some Brown Creeper. I think they travel as far South as Ga. where Hack is. But I haven't seen one here.
Whitebreasted Nuthatch. This must be the Papa out hunting for goody for his mate while she's sitting on the eggs.

Myrtle Warbler still here. Yeah!!!

Adel, glad you're enjoying the Tree Swallows too-cute photos.

Teddy, great shot of the wp.

Lily, cute duck. Hope you'll be seeing the little ones soon. Cute nuthatch photo.

GP, great photo of the jay and that bunting is just beautiful!

Annabell, that's a cute female House Finch with a bit leucistic or white on top.

Tiger, congratulations on the wrentit! Wonderful photos!

Nanny, great photos of all your birds, especially that creeper.

My first for the year Bullock's Oriole arrived this morning-finally. He's just 9 days late from his past two years, but that's probably because of our earlier stormy weather.

These House Finches sure do brighten up a day for me.

Oh man that is nice duc!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

My Red-breasted Nuthatches are still busy filling up on food each day.

Several Pine Siskins are still around too.

My husband was standing close to one pair of Tree Swallows. They're so tame when they're building their nests in the houses on our deck.

oh my word, Duc!

Lakeview, OH

Has anyone ever heard of a buzzard tree? We went to the club tonight and there must have been 5 or 6 in the top of the tree, tomorrow if the rain holds off, going to go to the club and see if the Pileated will be there, my hubby saw him the other day. Wish me luck.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Love those swallows Duc, I like to order some please. lol. Just kidding. Good lucks teddy.

Marlton, NJ

Great shots duc! Love the Oriole and of course the Swallows!

No April Fool's joke. It's SNOWING here.

Lakeview, OH

Here is what it was doing when I got up the other day. The birds are looking around and wondering where did the nice weather go? There are some settings on my camera that I don't know what they mean, so gonna have to find some instructions for it.

I heard about the snow arriving back east. Sorry to hear that everyone! Hope it doesn't stay long.

I'll be very surprised if this pair of Tree Swallows even start a nest. The female is continuing to ignore the male-maybe playing hard-to-get.

I love this male Tree Swallow.

One more. This one is giving me the "look".

My Golden-crowned Sparrows will soon be leaving as the days warm up.

Thumbnail by ducbucln

No joke, it's cold down here too Pelle. But there's no snow. One of the reason the bird appears all fluffed up?

These White-crowned Sparrows are fun to photograph too.

Like your Golden Crowned Sparrow, the Am. Coots soon will leave us as the weather warm up.

Here I go coming in at the end of a thread again and what a thread. My favs -- bald eagles, osprey, brown creeper, towhees, dark-eyed junco, oriole -- and had never even heard of a wrentit! Very cool everyone!

I don't see bluebirds as often as some of the rest of you, so I was excited to get 2 decent pics yesterday. This one nabbed what looks like a dragonfly nymph out of a dry ditch. Didn't know the nymphs could survive when the ditches dry up.

Here's the second one. Kept trying to get this guy going into its nest in the cavity of a dead tree branch, but he waited me out. I was hungry, tired and thirsty, so just took his pic on the branch and left.

Same Great Blue Heron nest that I showed you a couple of weeks ago. Now, though, the rest of the trees have leafed out. This one is probably dead. Nest seems to stand out like a soar thumb to me.

See what I mean? If you were a hawk flying by, wouldn't you think "yum, lunch!" Speaking of which ...

Seeing as it's a pine (evergreen), definitely dead

Still a bit chilly here too says the puffy Robin!

Went out this morning and stayed real still where my hubby said he saw the Pileated, I never saw him heard some drumming and caught a Northern Flicker, the problem is that I got the twigs in real good focus, but the flicker was blurry, so had to delete it. Still determined to get it, might try something here at home with the upside down feeder or get another one and put it on the tree, not sure yet, will let you know what happens.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

The sun came out but it's not very warm here still. Mockingbird surveys the backyard;
