aphids on hibiscus

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Every year I get aphids on this hibiscus. They just cover the buds. What is the best way to get rid of them or keep them under control?

I just hose mine off regularly, but you could also use insecticidal soap, neem, or just about any pesticide (aphids are easy to kill, but hard to control because the few that you miss multiply incredibly quickly!) The trick is whatever you do, it's not a once & done thing, you'll have to repeat for a while to get the ones that you miss the first time around.

Thanks, I'll get on it!

I had good success this week using 2/3 bottle warm water with 1/3 vegetable oil and a few drops of mild dish soap...I have Datura seedlings in the greenhouse they seemed to be enjoying (all other seedlings weren't affected at this time just the Datura's)

Will try that too. Am going to have to get a ladder as my hibiscus is about 8 feet tall.

most spray bottles have a nozzle that directs a heavier stream - give that a whirl first :) good luck....
