broccoli leaves

Austin, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi,
I've got 4 broccoli plants in my garden and I noticed a strange thing going on with their leaves today.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
The plants are getting plenty of water/sun and they still look pretty strong (they are about 7-9 inches tall right now).
I immediately sprayed them with insecticidal soap (organic) thinking it was bugs, but I thought I'd check here to find out for sure.

Thanks!

That is leaf miner damage- the larvae are inside the leaf cells and are eating the juices out- Google leaf miner- they are tough to control.

leafminers... ah that sucks
so after researching them, it appears there's really no good way to get rid of them.
I read you can cut off the affected leafs and trash them, but won't cutting off leaves of a somewhat small plant kill it?
Some said you can just leave them alone and the plant will survive, any tried this? It sounds risky.

Thanks

I think I would just tear away the parts that show damage and see what happens. The worst is to lose the plant, but the miners will do that anyway. The fly looks like a miniature housefly- good luck.

okay,
by tear away do you mean remove the whole leaf or take scissors to the leaf and cut around the damaged area?

I would just remove the camage and hope the leaf can still live- Can't hurt to try!
