I'm growing garlic for the first time and I'm doing it in containers because my soil has the worst drainage (more clay than you'd find in a ceramics class). Each plant is in a container about 6 inches in diameter and 6 1/2 inches tall. They're still fairly small - only 5 or 6 leaves, but they're leaves have started going yellow starting at the tips. We are having warm weather right now, so that might be part of the problem, but I think the yellowing may be from not having them in big enough pots. What size pots do I need? Mostly, I need to know pot depth, because no one can seem to tell me that.
In what size of container should I grow my garlic?
Laura, I don't have garlic in pots but have other things. I would use at least a ten inch container. My garlic grows wild in my flower beds. I read on DG that garlic and onions keeps deer and rabbits away if grown among Hostas. Seems to work well.
