I am thinking about creating a raised bed between 2 birch trees (the trees are well established, very tall). I was wondering if I could put strawberries here. It is a nice warm spot, partial sun, and wouldn't get trampled on by me or the lawnmower. If I do this, I was planning on layering compost, soil, leaves, etc to try and build the soil, and planting the strawberries in the layers. Do you think this is a foolhardy plan? Should I think of another place to put the strawberries? Or maybe would this be a spot to put some asparagus? Ideas please!
strawberries or asparagus under birch tree???
Both strawberries and asparagus require full sun to perform their best and give the best yield.
Lettuce and salad greens will grow in partial shade as will the herbs listed in the link below.
