I have a question about starting potatoes. I was at my local nursery this last week and picked up a small bag of potatoes for planting. However, I failed to get any instruction on what to do with these exactly. Do I just plant the entire potato (they are each the size of a golf ball) or do I cut them into pieces?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
starting potatoes
If they are that small, I would probably plant them whole. You want each piece you plant to have several eyes.
You might want to check out this site, as they have a nice photo that shows the approximate size that should be planted:

Thank you so much for the link and advice!

Sarah if you have not yet planted your potatoes, here is a short video that shows how to do it so you do not waste your potato seed. http://blog.gardenharvestsupply.com/2010/04/20/how-to-plant-potatoes-2/
That's an excellent video, Joe! Thank you for sharing.
The Apr/May issue of Organic Gardening has a 6-page article, Raising Potatoes, that lists and explains 7 different methods they tested, 4 in containers and 3 in the ground.
