Daily Bird Pics - Vol. #386

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

We just flew over from the previous thread which has lots of fine bird images. If you wish to go back, please follow this link:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1162160/

I'll start off the new thread with a little red, white and blue ...... Here are a few photos of Snow Geese which have either departed for points north, or will leave within the next few days. Sorry to see them leave but they are a welcome sight both coming ... and going. Remember, this weekend we switch to Daylight Savings time ...... SPRING forward.

Cardinal singing here. We have a pair which stays around all winter.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

I got way behind again so I'll just say all the photos were wonderful in the last thread.

Linth, thanks for the great new start. Linth, the snow geese photos and all the others were awesome! Wow!

Iris, glad you're still enjoying the cardinals.

My tree swallows are entertaining me every day. They've chosen their houses and now they guard them all day.

Wow Linth all great shots!! Thanks so much for starting the new thread!

Lovely pics duc! Those Tree Swallows are so beautiful!

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Great shots, duc .... as always. I haven't seen any swallows, to date. I've heard one Northern Flicker in the woods but haven't seen it. The Osprey have arrived but I have not seen one yet. Several local places have sighted them so they will be here, en masse, shortly.

Duc, I always like your Red-breasted Nuthatch photos. You must get pretty close to them. I haven't tried any closer photos on the ones I have been seeing at my son's house. I assume that the darker breast is the male and the lighter breast, the female. If so, this is a female Red-breasted Nuthatch.

Linth, thank you, for the new thread and your wonderful shots.
Duc, I'm with Pelle, love, your Tree Swallows.

We had a winter storm on Monday with a foot and a half of snow. Winter is not over for us yet. That means, I get to enjoy the Redpolls a bit more. :) The males are getting a lot redder.

Nice ones burn! They look great on the Colorado Blue Spruce! I'm sorry about your snow but glad you get to have the Redpoll's for a bit longer.

Put out a couple of feeders yesterday......the birds figured out how to use this one pretty quick.

Nice pics adel! Did you make the first feeder?

Birds seem to have left the feeder. Other food sources must be available.

Well I'm at my wit's end with the Grackle situation. Yesterday they ate 4 whole brand new cakes of suet (not a crumb left).

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Good morning folks. I finally have caught up with looking at all of the threads I have missed. Lovely, lovely pictures. It is nice to see some Spring birds among the most recent posts. Too many wonderful pictures to comment upon individually, so I will just say fantastic shots all.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

OMG, 4 suet cakes. That's crazy.

Norman, OK

Great start, linth. And as usual, terrific pics by all.

A male House Finch taken through the bedroom window. Was in the shade and I had to adjust a bit. The goldfinches have been nibbling on that green salad as well.

As usual I had breakfast with the bluebirds. No. I didn't have mealworms, I had Bunches of Honey n Oats. For a narrative of why Daddy is in this pose, check out my blog at http://bluebirddiary.wordpress.com/

Just getting here too...great start Linth and every one's photos are just great!!

I feel sorry for you pelle. I know in a matter of weeks I will be fighting them & the starlings as their numbers increase and then the fledglings.

We had a first yesterday afternoon....unfortunately it happened as we were leaving the house for DH's Dr. appt. so no photo of it but, we had a Red-tailed Hawk land in our tree!!
I hope it will maybe come back by again. I have seen a pair flying over a few times recently.

I saw a flock of what at first glance appered to be Canada Geese but I realized they were all much smaller than the Canada Goose.....I sure wish I would have had my camera with me!! Oh well....

South Hamilton, MA

Newspaper article said that red tail hawk population in the county is increasing. chipmunks increasing as well so hope they stay around.
