I had some tomatoes growing in buckets that I left outside when we had freezing weather last fall, unusual for this area. Later, I pulled up the dead plants and threw them away but lazily left the buckets sitting outside in the weather ALL winter. They filled up with water when it rained. Now, I'm wondering if the liquid in the buckets can be used as a kind of compost tea. It's all nice and dark brown and rich looking. The tomatoes were planted in potting mix, dead pecan leaves and compost.
compost tea?
Miles, it couldn't hurt! What you really have is considered a compost "leach". You could even dilute it down if you like and use it to water in your plants, making it stretch a little further.
Wishing you a great garden this year.
