Too early in zone 7 to sow snapdragon seeds outdoors?!

Silver Spring, MD

I got a little excited with the warm weather this past weekend and I threw a bunch of snapdragon seeds into one of my plant beds. Any chance they'll make it?I live in Maryland.

You have about a 50/50 chance given weather and seed eating critters....GRIN

Plant them outside after the last frost for best results. We all get anxious when it's warm out and we're eager to see the end of winter.

Snaps are cool weather plants. Like dianthus, they will survive the winter and have a strong root system for the spring. Then they sort of go dormant in the heat and come back in the fall. I transplanted some this winter to richer ground and they are coming out nicely. I am in z7b. Luciee

Luciee, Are dianthus and sweet william the same kind of flower?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sweet Williams are Dianthus barbatus. Dianthus is a genus that has about 300 species in it, including Carnations.

Here is a bit more info for you.
