Hello!!! I am not new to this site, but I am new at gardening, having recently built a house. I planted 11 different types of plants (shrubs/bushes ?) last fall.
Mostly I am wanting to make sure I prune at the right time. Is there a general rule to follow for any bush or shrub?
I have these types:
privet
burning bush
2 types of weigela
russian sage
henry garnet sweet spire (itea)
hostas
black adder hyssop
sand cherry
miss kim lilac (this one did not do well, planted last June)
carpet rose
Thanks for any suggestions! This site is really neat and I look forward to interacting with everyone.
Gardening newbie ;-)
Easy way to remember... fall bloomers get pruned now and spring bloomers after they flower
Thank you! That seems to be a fairly easy rule to remember :)
