Yep, they always look so innocent when they're asleep...like the human males that are trouble-makers!

There is a restaurant north of me that is called the Garlic Rose, of course as the name suggests every dish has garlic in it....even the ICE CREAM...That is where I draw the line, DON"T MESS WITH MY ICE CREAM!!!! It was sooooo wrong!!!

Hubby loves garlic....orders a garlic pizza at least once a month, went to pick up one and you could smell the garlic in the parking lot, then next day in church he leans over and asks me "was that you?" thinking I farted....I'm like NO that's the garlic seaping out of your pores...YOU STINK!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee!

I agree about ice cream. That is sacrilege.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah, you don't mess with ice cream or chocolate

East Bridgewater, MA

A person can brush his/her teeth a thousand times after eating garlic, but it won't stop what comes out of pores!

About 36 hours for "hang time."

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe that's why I've never had any vampire problems.

South Hamilton, MA

you're not a pretty girl, either.

East Bridgewater, MA

Me neither, so I'm safe...but I still eat garlic, anyway.

Didnt the Vampire Men go after each other to keep his territory?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, garlic is thicker than blood.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Jen I passed a garlic rose today.. outside of Morristown... not sure what town.. maybe Madison... wonder if they are related

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I went to the one in Cranford...

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

DH loves garlic too, but one of his handball friends, I can smell him before I see him.

A well-known account in history (can't remember details), stated that 2 enemy armies were approaching each other in Eastern Europe/Western Asia, in the same general region, but because of the prevailing winds, one army had an advantage, because they could SMELL the enemy before they saw them (due to spices used on their food).

Garlic in ice cream is just so wrong!

Just got back from the vet, and Buffy is gone. He collapsed in the kitchen last night and he was unable to stand back up. The floor was too slippery for him. Hope and I were not able to get him up. We called a place and brought him in. We decided it was better to put him down, as he was really going downhill and very old for a Lab. Anyhow, it was hard. We all cried. I felt like we were betraying him, leaving him there and all, but we couldn't watch, especially when the vet told us what might happen. Poor Dad cried all the way home. I felt so bad for him. Hopefully, because of his dementia, he won't dwell on it too long. On the other hand, he may forget, and us having to remind him every time he starts looking around for Buffy might make him all upset again. I'm hoping he won't take it too hard.

My deepest, deepest condolences for your loss. I know the pain of losing a beloved pet.

I remember the Christmas pictures you posted of Buffy, just 3-4 months ago, and they always made me smile (and Patches, too).

My late mother had the same general mental state that your father is in now, so I completely empathize with that, as well.

At least Buffy didn't "linger" for many months of suffering, and you were a great dog-mom, take pride in that.

I'm so sorry Karen, I know how you feel. B.A. said it so beautiful I have nothing to add but a hug. ((((Karen))))

I'm sorry Karen. I'm glad that he didn't suffer & you did the best you could. Having pets is lovely, I miss ours but it is so difficult to have them leave you. Best to your family. Lucy

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

My condolences Karen. Just remember you gave Buffy a great life and he is home again, free of pain. He'll love you forever.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thank you, everyone. Thinking about it is bringing tears to my eyes. I'm sure he's in Heaven with Mom now. Dad was crying again this morning. He didn't forget. He did go to his day program, though. I hope he will not be too sad there. Would probably be better that he goes than keeping him home.

OH Karen soooo sorry (((((♥♥♥))))) That is the hardest decision. I hope your Dad is OK, I see the affects of dementia with my DIL dad...so hard on them.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So sorry to hear, Karen. Sincere condolences.

Pets cant suffer or should I say they Should not. Letting them go is the right thing to do.

Karen, Buffy was a sweetie......I'm just so sorry...hope your Dad can find some comfort in having Patches with him.....

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, everyone. Dad did not have too bad of a day today. At his day program they said the activities kept his mind off of Buffy for the most part. He is in good spirits at the moment. He doesn't think about it all the time.

Victor, interesting article about that dog.
