Need help with plants in front yard

Laurel, NE

Last fall I put in a raised flower bed in my front yard. My house is built into a hill from East to West. you walk up steps from the drive way on the east side of the house and up a side walk that runs on the South Side of the house to the front door. I put in a retaining wall along this sidewalk that created a raised flower bed about 30 feet long (the sidewalk is between it and the house) . It is about 2.5 ft across and it is about 8 inches high at the front door and about 3 ft high at the bottom where it wraps around our flag pole creating a circle about 5 ft across. The top portion ( shallowest) is in shade the majority of the day. The lower 20 ft is in full sun for the entire morning and majority of the afternoon. I have no idea what to plant in it. I want texture and curb appeal but I don't want to draw a lot of bees and I don't want it to be completly overloaded with plants. There is one spot in the bed that is against a blank spot on the house so I could go with something taller in that spot. I am sure that this is very confusing, I will try to get a picture and post it. Can anyone help me??? I am good at building the wall, I just don't know what to put in it.
thank you

Need more info. Photos are helpful, but also what type of landscaping are you envisioning or favor? Flowers or shrubs? Both? Low-maintenance and colorful all year, I'm sure. How much time do you think you could spend in the garden weekly during spring, summer, and fall. Any favorite or special plants you want to be sure to include?

I need pictures! haha Can't quite visualize what you mean.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

So If I'm reading this right the bed width is only 2.5' wide??? So unless they are miniatures, you really can't do shrubs unless maybe a pencil shrub, one that is very upright
Also your zone 4 right?
What style would you like it to be? Cottagey, modern, asian?
