It's been unseasonably warm, and apparently my tulips and daffodils have decided to pop up! I live in zone 7 (western part of Virginia) where spring bulbs shouldn't come up until March/April. Is there anything I can do? I know we will get more freezing temperatures, and I don't want to lose my blooms for this year. Any advice??
Tulips in February!!
Chances are you will NOT lose any blooms. The trigger mechanism for blossoms is buried deeply within the bulbs. We often have growth in fall that ceases when the really cold weather starts and the bulbs resume growth in spring.
Have faith!
