Tobacco: Nicotiana Rustica Organic Pesticide: Compost?

Los Angeles, CA

Okay...
This growing season, I will be growing Tobacco "Nicotiana Rustica" as Organic Pesticide.
It's a potent variety containing high nicotine. Not for consumption.
Anyhow, my question is...
After the season is over and it dies, and I put it in the compost bin…

Q: Does anyone know if the nicotine will affect the vegetable plants or carry on in the fruit and foliage
if that same compost with the tobacco is used?
Q: Should I even put it in the compost bin or just trash it?
Q: What do you guys (experienced Nicotiana Rustica growers) do?

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

I don't know about the first question but i wouldn't trash it. Could you not dry the rest of the bad boys and save it for when the bugs start munchin' on your plant early next spring? You can make it into a spray and spray those plant suckers or use it as mulch. Now that I think about it, you could even put in on your lawn (if you have one) and it will help your grass.

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

Over here in UK as far as I know ALL Nicotine products, Burners, sprayers and insecticides are banned from here due to the dangers caused by in-gestation, breathing in ans skin contamination, so cant help you with this one, I know my Old Grand-dad used to use a burner (Like a candle and it burned all night with every vent and window etc in the greenhouse closes, then in the morning everything was opened up and we were not allowed to enter for the rest of the day till the air was cleared again.
I can tell you that the same old guy used to make his own potion for misting onto the foliage, he used a large water butt, filled about quarter with the foliage of the tobacco plant, add to the top with water, leave to soak till the liquid is like strong tea, then filter off all the liquid dilute to weak tea colour, bottle and then keep till required to spray / mist when you needed to get rid of bugs, greenfly, black-fly and lots of other things, but again we were never allowed near this stuff.
Hope someone with a more scientific mind can come in and help as I am dying to know what is what with this. good luck, WeeNel.
