Is this free house plant website real?

I just found a website through google. It says it will send you free house plants, bulbs and seeds. Its called FreePlant. Heres the link: http://www.freeplant.net/index.php. Should i give them my address and see if they send me free bulbs? I just want to be careful. Thanks!

Sorry no one got back to you re the free plant site, I go with the thought that, " IF something sounds tooooo good to be true, then it probably is too good for our own good. your doing the right thing by querying this site, I am sure there are safety features on sites to alert us to how safe they are.
We have a little padlock picture to let you know you are trading or dealing with a reputable company or site, there are other such signs to look out for when searching the computer, There may even be a forum on Dave's that can help you with the proper answers to your worries.

Loves, I went there and entered my alternate email address. the man is selling plans to learn how to take plant cuttings, root them and sell them online. I think that is what he means by "free plants." There is nothing there that you can't find here on Dave's.

update: He is running a contest right now with free cuttings/plants to people who register with his site.

I also found the site looked under faqs...way at the bottom in mickey mouse print.
the last 2 questions and answers said...SCAM! Server side selection program? Sounds like a lottery type system or see who will fall for as many crank/junk marketing schemes for a free plant as they can pull you into! Traders here on DG are far better post in threads or contact by mail system. We are far more honest and transparent...happy dirt digging! ^_^

IF in doubt try getting in touch with the Admin (bottom of page where it says, CONTACY US.
they are very helpful and MAY guide you to some area on the site where many good / Bad companies are listed.

Always remember, there is no such thing as free dinners, IF these plants have to be sent by POST, who's going to pay for this, Are the plants grown free from disease, how long has the grower or store been trading, I would never send my details to anyone who I have never had any dealings with or been recommended to.

There are far too many people or gangs of people who con, use or send virus to your computer and can trace friends and family all gained via you giving details to complete strangers. IF we tell our kids NOT to answer or give info to ANYONE they don't know, should we as Adults be ignoring this advice for a free bulb / plant ect, my gut feeling is THINK NOT.
If this company was trying to get a range of gardeners to try out there products, I would expect them to do so in the press, in garden magazines or whatever, call me an over sceptical fool but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I really do hope this is genuine but giving your details wont help IF they are NOT.

Sounds like a couple of scams that were similar just tail end of last year, the Admin dealt with them and removed them after I alerted them to please check Admin and they will check so called businesses out and let you know the findings.
Scam I had went something like, people are asked to set up advertising on behalf of an over-sea's PRETEND company, the person gets paid for everyone who they get in touch with as they have to keep a record of proof and their details of where they were contacted.
They probably don't even know the problems they are creating for the unsuspecting visitors to the advert site (FREE PLANTS) but they obviously don't care, they just see dollar signs.
The reason these fraudulent companies cant just come on this site and ask folks to do business with them is because they are just as the label say's FRAUD, spotted a mile off, they need unsuspecting 3rd parties to get people to open lines of communication, pay them a pittance and you and I are duped into thinking they are a genuine.

I would like to tell you that after having 2 different people joined in a forum I was on, (they actually used my name) it gave me a funny feeling but as we are a world wide site, we have to remember everyone here has different ways with word / speech, but there were other signs this was a weirdo, again I did not want to sound like I myself was a nut case, anyway cut a long story short, I got in touch with Admin, got a reply from them very quickly and they informed me I was right to be suspicious as they were infact Scammers, immediately removed from site.
However was it just coincidence that my computer was playing up, could not get onto Dave's Garden and other sites frequently use, and by the way, SAFE sites I've been using regularly. Maybe all silly thoughts but believe me, I never open, give out my info or encourage these silly idiot's who want to spoil a great site like Dave's Garden, my advice is, IF your unsure, feel threatened, unhappy with anyone's reply's, or the way the decry others, Please got in touch with Admin, this site is monitored BUT there will be things NOT picked up instantly, no one can give that type of guarantee. IF your wrong, there's no harm done as Admin will NOT divulge who you are, they will contact the wrong doer personally and get back to you.

Hope this helps folks decide how to help keep the site free from problems, this is a safe site but like the rest of the world, there is always a few bad apples.

Amen to that. Thanks for the explanation. There is so much fraud now due to the bad economy. I keep getting phone calls from a credit card company telling me that they can lower my interest rate. The kicker is , I don't use credit cards. It is a scam to try to get me to reveal my credit card number that i don't have.

Oh, the address is almost the same. I always follow the thought that nothing is free. Who will pay for the shipping?

They didn't put the copyright notice to cover 2014. It may be an old website someone decided to use.

Blooma, I think there is corruption, scams and dishonest people in every country, sad as that is.
The latest or most used one here is, when you buy something, and your asked for your zip code (here in UK knows as Post Code) then your phone number (Home or / and Mobile) these shops , companies gather all this info then, sell your details on to other crooked companies, next thing you get a phone call to tell you that you have been over charged by the bank, you have been paying the bank an insurance to cover your loan, Mortgage or whatever and the government has said the bank has to repay you this overpayment, this bank charge is absolutely true by the way IF you have a bank loan.
The crooked bit comes when this company tells you they will get your money back from the bank for you but they want a fee (Huge amount) for getting you YOUR money.
The truth is, people don't realise they are entitled to write to their bank to inform the bank they want their money back for the insurance NO one needed but was the banks way of getting more money just because people needed a loan, you can get up to 3-4 of those calls per week,
Now I never give my details to any survey, shop or 3nd party, my cell phone is for friends and family only.
As someone else said here, there is no such a thing as a free lunch or plants, you WILL pay in some shape or form, Next scam is someone calls you from Bank, (Scammer) they ask you some questions for security reasons to prove your the right person, then they tell you someone Has been using your credit card,(for security can you tell them the last 5 numbers on your card) so people give this info (then "sorry can you repeat that") give the full number so it can be checked, some folks actually do read out their card Number,
Then they are told, the bank will send a messenger high speed to pick up your card, Don't hand over the card BUT, they will bring a security envelope with them, all you do is drop your card into the envelope, seal the envelope, the security man will be back to the bank withing half an hour, we will issue with a new card and number to use, and all you have to do is remove the card from the security envelope, Jeeeees, the new card never arrives, the collected card is already half an hour later been used to empty your account and you have been scammed.
What surprises me is the amount of people who actually gave their details over the phone AND put their card in a so called security envelope.
they say there's one born every moment.
This site can be just as easy to be scammed BUT we should all look out for each other and IF someone tells you they are suspicious of a member then be assured, they wont make remarks like that lightly, AND IF you have to ask IF something is real or too good to be true, then it more than likely is.

Now lets get back to our beloved plants !!!!!.
