What is SB virus? Is there any way to treat or prevent it? Does it only attack Yellows??
ps- I am so glad to have found you all again!! I have al kinds of green babies in my kitchen just waiting to go outside and spread their branches.
I didn't know Brugs grew okra!!
BirdieBlue,
Stenglebrand (We call it stranglebrand) is more complicated than a virus. It is a fungalvirus and is characterized by a black ring around the dead tissue often starting around an old leaf node. It can appear on any variety of Brug, but yellow Brugs appear more susceptible to SB as are Brugs with suaveolens in their ancestry. There is no cure against it and can spread like wildfire. The best thing to do is to get rid of the Brug, pot, soil and all as quickly as you know it is stenglebrand.

Veronicia, Thank you, for that great explaination, one of my Brugs looked like that, I did throw everything away, good thing
it saved the rest of my collection, btw it's good too see you
Sherri, it's good too see you, where have you been?
Elizabeth
Elizabeth...are you putting all those pots over at your booth? Is your booth at Brown's?
I've been right here all winter. My knees, hip and back are in bad shape. Arthur, you know, seems to be camping out here. I pray that warm weather will bring some relief as I really want to be playing in the dirt this year.
One day a few weeks ago I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw my mother at exactly the stage when I realized that she was really getting old. We look exactly alike , except for a 20 year age difference. I guess I have become my mother. hmmmm......
Those are really nice pots. Wish I lived closer to your booth!!!
Good Morning Everyone
Di, Yes it's at Browns, the pots will be there in the next couple days
Sherri, that's the same thing my DD told me, I hope you feel better soon
Crit, I wish you lived closer also, I have a Oak file cabinet too take over to my Booth & a small drop leaf retro table
I have too clear out what I don't want to have to move, which will be this Summer, it's 34 days till Spring, & snowing
out this morning, I'll be so glad to get some warm weather back
Elizabeth
me too!
Crit & Everyone Good Morning
it's now 33 days till Spring, I am so excited, my big Brugs in the basement are starting too wake up, next week I will fertilize
them, also my other window came in for the back porch, I can put a small heater out there, with some of the bigger brugs
they'll love the natural light, have a great day
Elizabeth
Mornin' I sure wish I could go to your booth, I would buy the retro table for my daughter...
Kaitlyns bud is still here..
The heater vent has been turning the plants to crisp so I taped it shut with silver cloth tape. Everything got watered and fed last night.
Today I am planting some more seeds for WS.
This little brug seedling looks to be a varigated leaf from the cot, This seed came from Kaitlyns first pod. I have to go back to my posts to see what was in bloom at same time as she, besides Maya. I sure hope this isn't a maya kin..I do not cross seeds, but our other pollen donirs were not varigated..Isabella, b. suavelons , Maya and CG were in bloom at same time as Kaitlyn.

Good Morning Everyone
Debra, everything looks great, as usual, don't ya just love those seedlings, I am just not any good with seeds, until Spring when I can put them in the ground
Retta, I hope you get warm weather soon, it's 32 days till Spring here, I sure hope the weather is the same this year as it was last year, I had my Brugs in the ground the first of April, I feel for you, for your pain
Elizabeth
Retta, you let me know when I can send you your brugs. It will be no time and you will be posting beautiful bloom photos.
April 15th is the planting date here, altho the past two years it has been cold and yukky during that week.
We had huge hail tonight. It went north and East from here..

Elizabeth, sounds like your booth has been doing great. That table is/was a beaut! Are you still looking at moving into the house, that has the sunroom...the one that you were checking into last Spring?
Debrah, your plants look great, as they always do! How are your service berry cuttings doing.Just holler if ya need some more.My service berry has buds popping out. I'm thankful for that, as it wasn't looking great last year, but I moved it from the other house in late spring, so I'm hoping it was just pouting. It is always the first plant in my yard to bloom.I'm so looking forward to Spring! We had a heck of a thunder/hail storm, last night, too. But, looking at the brighter side, I won't have to water my WS containers, now..lol I have more that I am going to try to get sown and put out today.
Has anyone WS sunflowers? I'm wondering if the peat pellets would work for them since they don't like being transplanted. I'm thinking about trying them(not really winter sowing, but just starting a little early, outside).I use preen in the bed that I want to put them in, so the seeds wouldn't germinate in the ground, but I'm not crazy about the peat pellets, because they seem to stay so wet. I have 3 different kinds of giant sunflowers to start, and don't want to lose the seeds to rot. They weren't cheap...lol
Dee
I don't live that far from Elizabeth and had asked about her pots that she was going to put in her booth. So today I stopped by her house to pick them up; they were a great deal. While I was there, I asked to look at any blooming brugs she might have. She took me right downstairs into this jungle full of plants - I don't think I've ever seen a house with so many plants in my life. And the brugs, OMG, the brugs were all over and huge! There were many different types of plants but the amount of brugs down there was simply overwhelming - thought I was in heaven for a few minutes there. She showed me this beautiful one that had variegated leaves - now I want one of those as well. :) She gave me tips on what to do with some of mine and told me to come back in April and she'll show me what to do with them and what to look for with outdoor planting. I wasn't there for long but got to meet her, her daughters and grandbaby (what a cutie!) and picked up some extra knowledge about brugs. All I could think about when I got back in the car was -what a nice lady! Thank you , Elizabeth, for giving me the chance to pick up the pots and just for being so darn nice.
I habe baby brugs taking up nearly my whole kitchen. When is it safe to plant them outside. I've got to find some teenage boys to dig some big holes (lots of them. I'm rhinking of mKING Brug room qith thT SHORT WHITE DECORATIVE FENCE TO KEEP MY TWO POODLE BOYS FROM OVERWATERING THEM oops, forgive the caps please!!
