my compost is not heating up like it should be. it doesn't stink, just not breaking down very fast. it is composed of chicken manure, fall leaves and grass clippings in a big trash can. i just added some dirt to it. i turn it every 3-5 days, it has been about a 5 weeks, i don't know if it will be ready by late march, early april when i need it. any advice?
compost problems
Are you making sure that the mix stays damp? Compost needs moisture to break down. Here is some really good info on composting.

also needs air . poke some holes in the bag.
Also poke holes in bottom of trash can for drainage - too much moisture also lead to stink and less breakdown too.
