Well done everyone. Pelletory, I have not seen a Tree Sparrow since I started photographing birds in 2008. Nice shot.

Great photos as usual and I've gotten behind once again.

I went for a walk along the shore of our lake and got a few photos. Here's an American Coot.

My last one.

This is the first Eastern Towhee (male) I've seen in 2011. The rascal never did step into the sunlight for me. Still, he's a handsome bird. Maybe mama Towheee is around somewhere.

You won't believe it, we had just stepped out to go to the store when my hubby froze, he saw the Pileated Woodpecker on our tree! He was amazed and frightened all at the same time, I am surprised it came that late. He was low enough on the tree that hubby got a good look at him, and said he was HUGE!!!!! Maybe he is going to start eating off our suet, but I did not think they could eat off one that did not have a tail board, or can they? Can they hang upside down and eat that way?

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Burn, great photo of your Jay! Those Redpolls are so pretty in all your photos.

Hack, congrats on your first towhee. Ours stay here year round so I'd assumed yours stayed there the same. Love love love your pine warbler!

Teddy, can't answer your question, but it's good they're coming closer.

Marlton, NJ

Teddy, If it's hanging against the tree they don't need a tail prop.

Nice ones Hack!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Teddy, they can eat of of any suet feeder if the can access it. The squirrels have destroyed my proptails feeders, including the one i just bought. So I am back to the wire cages for now.

This is from almost a year ago.

I saw a picture on a web page where it showed 2 Pileated Woodpeckers on a suet cake like mine, just hanging on the chain. So I am not going to do anything special and see what happens, I hope that the female hubby saw tonight is going to have babies in our cottonwood tree, there is a hole several feet above ground, I think that is where she was going when he saw her tonight, it was a female. Wouldn't it be great if she had babies in the tree? We have some apples we are going to cut up and put on the shelf on the tree and see if we can entice her to eat, if I get a picture of her or him my feet won't touch the ground for weeks.

Oquawka, IL(Zone 5a)

Finally, one that I can post here! Juvenile eagle that let me get really close before taking off!
