Birds from Queensland.

Marlton, NJ

Very nice shot! He is gorgeous!

PERTH, Australia

Ginger, I know this is off topic for bird watching, but do you have any Queensland Bottle trees?

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

In this Picture you can see I am at least one foot above the nest.
The female is making her way down onto the nest.
She is at eye to eye level with me.

This was taken at Roma last year.

Whooooooaaaa. How cool is that. Who's that in the picture?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Oh Whoooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I wanna visit Australia someday, please, please.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

That’s my DFIL. [86 yo]

Just name the day Lily.
I can help you out with travel and accommodation in SE Queensland.
I'm sure Margaret will make you welcome in WA.
And Kennedy is in Victoria.
Taswegians [the apple isle] have two heads so I wouldn't go there. ;-(

I’m showing this Picture to show not all ‘Bottle Trees’ are shaped like the big one.

Ha! Looks lake Laurel and Hardy Trees.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

The Trees are not the only Big Things here.
Even the family Watch/Guard Dogs are Big.

This is not a Dairy Cow, and the Bird is not milking the Cow.
It is a Cattle Egret Bubulcus ibis
They hang around and ‘pick’ ticks off the Cattle.
I have about 10 that come here every day.
They also get ticks from my Horses.

And I see they also love the Horse Poop. ;-(

Ginger, you're being so very kind to offer your hospitality. You DFIL is a fine looking gentleman!

Now come to Cattle Egrets, hah, we've them here too in the US. I also saw them from Hawaii, go figure!

Great picture Lily. [so many birds]
Those ones seem to love water ?

I guess they must be good flyers.
Or perhaps they stowed away on the early Pioneer Ships ?
They look so majestic in flight.

But you do need a 'GOOD CAMERA' to capture them in flight.
My Canon has 'Lens Stabaliser' built in.

Thank you B_F,
I have not had a lot of time to have a good look around yet, but I will soon.

Here is a Pelican I forgot to add earlier. [My favourite]
I like the water dripping off his belly.

This Cattle Egret Bubulcus ibis makes it look so simple.
Their legs are so long, there is no luggage compartment to tuck them into.

Very nice shots Ginger!

Love the Egrets on the Horses. Too cute.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Be afraid, be very afraid.
If an Eagle was coming at you in this manner.
You should be very afraid. [time to run or hide maybe both]
This Magpie was trying to scare off a rival Bird sharing my Breakfast.

Oh I love the Magpie's!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

Looks like I will continue with the Magpies then. ;-)

This Bird was taking a bath in my Studio bucket.
Water I use for Coffee, washing hands and general cleaning up.

Every day at Birds Breakfast time, they will come inside My Studio to let me know its time.
There were six this particular day.

Love the Pied Butcher bird! So funny them coming into your studio.

So handsome in the last pic!

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

It is not unusual to have more than 25 Birds come for breakfast.

This is typical of how they rest.

They sure let me know when they are there.
Their loud musical flute-like song is often performed as a duet or by a group and sound great.
Hear their song here: http://birdsinbackyards.net/images/audio/gymnorhina-tibicen.mp3
It's like they are singing for their food.

LOL, Very nice call.

Brisvegas, Australia(Zone 12b)

I know this is a Tad off topic but I just had to share.
This was last nights Dinner.
It tasted not too bad.
But I really need some of you Americans to teach me how you do it. ;o)

Wow, What a wonderful place this Bourke is.
We drove down into NSW and then west to Bourke. [the locals call it The Back of Bourke]
It is absolutely unbelievable how many Birds are about at the moment.
I estimated over 1,500 Corellas in these three trees alone the banks of the Darling River.
