NEW QUESTION (for me). I'm in southern California, where heavy rains and strong winds this winter damaged the branches of many mature (40-year-old) Italian cypress trees. Tight vertical branches are now flopping outward from the tree, exposing the brown interior. Much of the damage is very high up the tree. My 2-part question is: what is the most economical solution to "fixing" the branch damage, and what is the proper maintenance of these approx 60-foot tall trees?
