Weather in your garden # 88

Thomaston, CT

Ooh, I'm so jealous, Patti & Louise (Louise for your FL day)! It was a lovely day here, in the 40's, but no place to even sit outside....the back porch was leaking like a sieve! Louise, it looks like your snow total is up there in NH....Polly, what a cute photo!

South Hamilton, MA

Warm enough for some melting. Can't wait until more melting. Driveway changed to ice.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Looks lovely Louise! Bet you're homesick right now looking at all those NE photos! (lol!)

33° now, on the way down to 22° tonight. ☺

South Hamilton, MA

22° has been the high, not the low. Good tomorrow, but more cold coming later in the week. Hope that there is no more snow.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow Louise.. that fireplace is big... amazing

27 now going to 42.. more messy stuff tonight

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

You got a mess of snow at the farm Louise! Plants are nice and comfy sleeping waiting for your return!! :)

Snow showers today, tonight, and again tomorrow.....looking at another 4 - 6" im sure!

21 dgree's now, going up to 36 today! Hopefully we will get more melting snow than actual snow falling from the sky!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

We are having another great weather day here today, but DH can't go out and enjoy it. He is on his way up to Boston now, as he has a dear relative recovering from an emergency surgery that happened yesterday. At least he should have an easy drive up and back, if he can come home tonight. . I know this thaw won't last and hear more snow is head our way.

DonnieBrook, your home looks lovely in all that snow, but I hope you did get some of it off the roof by remote control.

Victor, I am going to look up your recommendation for a Nikon Coolpix P7000 as I want a new camera too . What I want doesn't probable exist. I just want a small camera with almost no settings that will take good macro shots of plants plus general snaps. We have two camera that should do the job, but they both have too many bells and whistles for my brain to wrap around. My cannon is bulky and uses 4 batteries which I hate, while the little Sony is a perfect size for keeping in my pocket, but I hate it's set up. Gobbledygook . I have the same issue with most appliances today too. I want a start button, not 15 choices, has anyone ever used all the choices on their dishwasher? My rant for the day. Patti

30 out now and going up to 40 today.

Good morning.

Currently 32 degrees in WNY going up to 34. Some snow predicted for later. Dropping down to 15 tonight and the predicted high temp for tomorrow is only 17. Here we are on the weather roller coaster again.

Have a blessed and marvelous Monday, folks.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not bad so far. 33 and mostly sunny, though the clouds are coming and more crap tonight. The little guy is home.

Patti, I think the Canon S95 is probably simpler.

Thomaston, CT

30 and very cloudy....waiting for precip later....hope your little guy feels better!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Sun is shining brightly. Some grass is poking through after all the rain we've had. Very soggy out there. Hope the sump pumps keep working.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

suppose to go up to near 40 - then cold the rest of the week

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

41°, wind is from the SW at 8 mph, humidity is 55%, and it's partly sunny out here.

Going up to 44° today, getting cloudier as the day goes on, tonight we're expecting rain with a low of 32°. Very windy here for tomorrow, with a big drop in temps to go with it.

South Hamilton, MA

37° & cloudy. Has been so all day. DH spread sand on the driveway as it is solid ice. Used my cane for balance to get to the car. I didn't need it at stop & shop as the parking lot was down to pavement.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, the 2 days of melting have made a small difference......new snow tonight....or ice....weathermen aren't sure yet.

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

At least thursday looks better,

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

LOL, WC! Yes, sure......really homesick! :)

Allison - here is a shot of the fireplace without all the snow....remember it??

Celeste - you are right.....hopefully all of the snow will keep the plants snuggly and okay!

Thanks, Patti! We have been in touch with our caretaker about hiring someone to remove the snow from the flat roofs. He has decided to take care of it himself. Is there a going rate to do this? We've never had it done in NH before. If I know him, he will not bill us, but will let us decide what to pay him. I haven't a clue! That's why I wanted him to hire someone who does this routinely.

Robin - are you feeling better yet? It is beginning to sound like the temps there "may" be beginning to normalize a teeny bit????

More snow tonight into tomorrow..UGH!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Here too.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti, my new Canon is very easy to use, very lightweight, and the one battery seems to last just about forever. On the auto setting it seems to take pictures just right, even does macro without changing to macro. I find it very easy to use.

Louise, to give an idea of snow removal from the roof, we paid 200.00, and our roof sq ft is a little over 2200. Of course, we're in the country, where everything is cheaper.

South Hamilton, MA

We should get a bit of snow. don't need it. the outdoor hydrant which we used for the horses is just peeking out of the crust. All the ice is scary.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I love horses.. probably eat me out of house & home, but they are so cool!

South Hamilton, MA

They are gone now. they grew old & the kids grew up. We could certainly not handle the barn work now. Hydrant used for watering irises.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

38° and lightly raining

Snowing got about 1/2 inch. 2-4 expected.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

35 and raining now.. strong wind advisories later... and getting colder as we go today

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

32 SNOWING very wet heavy snow.....no good for the roofs!!!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Got nothing here. Sun coming out. 36 degrees.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

The branches are starting to strain from the weight.......

there was close to 2" on snow this morning - and it looked nice pasted to the trees - cold front coming in.
the good news is that today is red sox "truck day" a sure sign of spring coming!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I wonder where all those trees would go if they could walk. ☺

38°, windchill 29°, wind from the South at 9 mph, our humidity is 98% and it's light rain outside.

Temps dropping here throughout the day, our low should be about 12° tonight, but the winds will be picking up as well so our windchill will be about -7°. Strong winds are expected, clouds clearing out tonight.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning.

Currently 11 degrees in WNY with snow. We got about 3-4 inches overnight. More snow and even colder temperatures with high winds are coming tonight and tomorrow. By Sunday we climb back up into the upper 30's. Old Man Winter just won't let us go yet.

Have a blessed and terrific Tuesday, folks. Stay warm. :)

Wicked windy, only good thing about that it will hopefully dry everything out since temps are falling

Thomaston, CT

There are about 2" of very wet, heavy snow plastered to every surface....the town plow knocked over my garbage bin.....had to recollect all the bags, & put it up by the road again....I need sun & a tropical beach right now.....
