Pre-emergent on gravel driveway?

Every year about this time the weeds begin growing through the gravel. They are really a pain to try to pull by hand, although I have done it before... it takes hours....
Will a pre-emergent like Preen work on a gravel drive?

It should work fine as long as the weeds are ones that are coming up from seed (vs ones with perennial roots that are re-sprouting in the spring). I use corn gluten (organic pre-emergent) on my gravel patios/walkways and it works fine.
