Hi. I am new to posting and appreciate your feedback. This young oak is exhibiting vertical stripes of swelling in lower trunk. I have not been able to find resources addressing this condition. Remaining lower bark looks checked and is beginning to crack. Soil is mostly heavy/marine clay and slightly acid. We do have many older oaks in the neighborhood and oak wilt is present. Zone 7a, Northern VA. Thank you.
