I don't know if it's okay to ask this here, but here goes. I got a mailout from something called National Home Gardening Club, telling me that I could join for $12/year. I would be sent gardening tools to try out and then send in a review, and could keep the tools, also seeds, a magazine, etc. Has anyone else heard of this and would it be worth it? $12 is not really that much if you really get lots of free stuff.

Miles,

It's interesting that many/most of the positive comments were made by brand new members. It looks like those same members are not very active, since I couldn't find any positive reviewers that had started message threads in ANY forum--to be fair, I didn't check every single person, though. There were lots of negative/neutral comments that also didn't have much activity...so take it for what it's worth.

I just read through the reviews. What I suspect you get the most of free, is junk mail. What appears to be the honest positive reviews seem to like the magazine. It'd take half the $12 to ship a legitimate tool to you. If you do decide to do it pay with a credit card.
I got the same thing. It definitely sounded too good to be true, so I haven't responded.
Thanks. I read many of the reviews and decided to trash the materials. I've gotten sucked into book clubs, etc., in the past that were nightmares to get out of. Don't want to go through that again.
Interesting. I get stuff from these guys every once in a while and I was always skeptical because it sounded too good to be true as someone else noted. They usually include a seed packet of wildflowers or something. They probably aren't viable anyway, lol.
