Hi!
Got my hands on some Calla Lily, Gladiola, Dahlia and Oriental Lily bulbs that were purchased on super clearance at a box store last year. They've been stored in a closet since then in their original packaging. They're certainly really dry and some seem kind of shriveled, like the "meat" of the bulb is gone - so I'm pretty sure some are going to be junk. The packages say that this is the time of year to plant them here in FL, so I was hoping some might still be good.
What's the best way to determine whether a bulb will still most likely be viable?
Thanks!
Rose
Chances for old bulbs to sprout?
I'd say plant them and see what grows. I'd bet against them but who knows.
I agree, especially with the ones that are shriveled up it's going to be a long shot. But since you already have them there's no harm in trying, you may get lucky with a few of them.
Long shots are my specialty! :) I'll stick 'em in some pots this weekend, and I'll let y'all know what happens!
