Did my rose cutting root?

Miami, FL(Zone 10b)

Hi this is a princess of monaco rose cutting that I put in soil and it has grown some leaves and I'd like to know if it has rooted or what. Sorry I'm still a beginner :p

A tricky question - if you pull it out it might damage it but it is the only way we can tell - They can send out new growth without any actually roots.

Sometimes, if you look at the bottom from underneath, you can see tiny roots growing.

I'd try kwanjin's suggestion because it will not cause any harm to your rose. If it is rooted and you pull it out, you will damage the tiny new roots and might kill the rose. If you don't see any roots, just be patient, give the plant time and see what happens. It looks good to me so far--good luck with it.

I agree with the newest post, because checking the roots .... but the stem still seems green and strong and the shoot looks healthy - so I think it is a possibilty that you might have a "keeper".... I am in the same boat - I took three cuttings from a rose back in November, and one of the stems recently turned black and the new little shoot withered away - however the two that I still have are still green and there are a couple of new sprouts on each one - so I remain hopeful as this is my 1st attempt at rose propagation! Good luck to you! :)

Well last week I threw it out because the stem started to turn black and when I took it out of the soil no roots

Well, that is sad to hear. I was so hoping you had good news.

Next time, select a long stem with a bloom, cut it off. cut the spent bloom off back to the first leaves, leave one of them ,strip the other leaves off , stick in a clear vase of water , keep in warm place and probably have great luck . I get about 80% success .
