What's your best "find" for a plant on sale?

My best find to date happened yesterday~

I found baby Norfolk pines for $1.00 each and an unidentified Christmas Cactus for $1.25 at Walmart. They had about 8 pines, so I picked the 2 healthiest. I couldn't leave the CC all alone, so I took it too! LOL I love a good find! :-)

Hmmm..WalMart...may have to be in that area soon. My best find was a clematis at one of the local plant/gift centers. $1..in the fall. I think that it is Mr. President (wasn't marked).

I think my best buy was about 5 years ago when I bought 10 Christmas cactus from Lowes for 50 cents. That's 50 cents for all ten.

October of 2009 at WalMart I found 30 heucherras, some were Plum Pudding, most were ''Melting Fire". I took them all for $1 each, heeled them in for winter and hoped for the best. About 25 survived and were shared with gardening friends/family. Most of the dozen or so that I kept filled in nicely over summer- I can't wait 'til spring of 2011 to see how they look. When you come across a bargain like that you have to jump on it!...at least that's what I told my husband when I came home with a trunkful of gallon sized pots!!!

At the end of this past summer, our local farm store put all of their shrubs on sale for 25 cents each, some as big as 5 gallon pots.There were 3 people shopping the lot, including me, when they decided to do it, and we pretty much cleaned them out.When I drove off, I had enough ninebark summer wine, to line our driveway, several different viburnums, some forsythias,spireas, 3 different types of wiegelias, and a couple climbing hydrangeas, and spent about $18 total, and the van was absolutely packed! Made my summer...I still get all fuzzy, just thinking about it...lol
