We escaped the snow, but not the brutal arctic cold. Hasn't been above freezing all week. Birds have been actively feeding.
The Bewick's Wren seems to be staying around.
DAILY BIRD PICS VOL. 372
Or, they might just use a little stronger word! LOL
Nanny, sorry it's so cold there. Your birds look quite happy with all the food you've got for them. That junco is cute, looks like it's trying to decide which peanut to eat.
Granny, cute jay and that last finch is a cutie.
Julie, love the grackle.
Teddy, just enjoy your cardinal.
Red, cute little wren. I love watching ours here-they sure don't sit still long. Love that sparrow shot!
Lily, hope it warms up for you.
The Western Bluebirds are sure enjoying the berries on the mistletoe in all the oak trees around here.
Burn, sorry to see your little dove is ill. Love that jay.
Met, beautiful photos of your birds too.
Wow, really great photos people!
Duc, wowed by the flying cormorant and just in love with that vulture shot! That would be my halloween postcard.
Burd, LOVE that red-tailed hawk photo.
Methodical, beauties! Love the junco especially. I'm really aching to see one.
Julie, nice song sparrow.
Nanny, still jealous of your pileated. I never would have guessed that the bird with the cardinal was a song sparrow.
Burn, love to see the redpoll shots.
Red, great wren shot.
Shoot, I've been gone too long to fully recognize everyone, but enjoyed all of your photos!
OK, now Duc is sharing more fantastic photos. Holy cow, two bald eagles?! Flicker! Unbelievable what you capture.
This red-tailed hawk showed up early on this dark, cloudy day. I had to brighten this picture up a lot.
Outstanding shots everyone! I'm so enjoying this thread!
Hi Met, Yes last year they ( Chickadees) nested in our backyard and had 5 fledges I think. Couldn't watch the last one due to heavy rain.
Love all the photos folks.
Jeepers Duc, two Eagles, a Flicker?? Wow! BTW, I love the Mockingbird grooming itself!!
Nice visitor Julie!
Nice pic. everyone, Duc I'm thinking of 'retreating' to Hawaii for good in the near future if the weather prolongs likes it's right now. One can dream can't I? It's so neat that you captured the Vulture while it was sun-bathing. Funny how Herons behave/pose the same when they sun-bathe. teddy, congrats on your Redbellied Woodpecker coming to the feeder, they're fun to watch. Julie, oh neato!!! To have Brown Thrasher to scout out your feeder area is awesome! She/he looks so currious.
My Redheaded wps have been a regular residents this winter, today Lord Byron is very vocal. I'm not sure he was calling the Missus to come and join in the feast, or just putting on a show to ward off other birds away. He's a charmer furrr sure;
