Thank you Pelle for the new thread with our lovely Chickadee. The winter blast is not leaving many of us out. Every state in the union has snow but Florida! Imagine that.

This guy was starting to get covered with snow, he did not move very fast. He was too busy filling his tummy.
Thanks pelle for staring the new thread for me. I lost power around 9:30 last night. Don't know why. Georgia Power was riding up and down the road by my house shinning a spot light along the power lines. I've been at school all day and don't know when the power was restored.

Well we had our snow storm and it's already gone. We only wound up with 4 inches.
Hope we don't lose power today because it is supposed to get very windy.

We've been to the park a couple times this week and I'm behind on photos. Here's a Double-crested Cormorant.
The Canada Geese can always be found along the shores of our lake.
I found this Snow Goose hanging around the Canada Geese-they're very rare in our area and I was happy to report it to our local Audubon.
I'm still trying to catch this Belted Kingfisher and failing each time! This one was a good distance away and seemed to enjoy moving farther away each time we tried to get close.
Found this Turkey Vulture sunning himself in our very short day of sun.

Wonderful pictures everyone. thanks for taking time to post them so the rest can enjoy. I don't have the variety of birds thatmost of you have in your areas. Usually have lots of Goldfinches, but they haven't been to the nyjer feeder much lately.
It snowed an inch in the night, and up until about an hour ago. About 2" or more fresh snow. I went out earlier and pushed some snow off the corner of the deck, All I could manage with my bad leg and using a cane most of the time. scattered about a quart of Chicken scratch with a little wild bird feed on the cleaned area, takes the quail about 60 seconds to come to eat after I put the feed out.
I buy Chicken scratch at Wal Mart for just under $8.00 for a 40lb. bag. The quail and of course the HoSp love it.
The wind has stopped , also the snow, and is supposed to be in low 40s for next few days.

Donna, glad you didn't get hurt moving that snow around. I like to use chicken scratch in my peanut butter/nuts mix and I also mix it with the sunflower seeds feeders. The birds do love it. At least it's one thing that doesn't cost an arm and a leg-yet!

Very windy here too making it very cold. It is supposed to die down later so I will wait before I snowblow the driveway again. We ended up getting about another 2 inches over night.

Of course the Carolina Wrens were out about too!
This is the 'Suet' Platform....This poor Dark-eyed Junco knows there's suet there somewhere under all that white stuff!

Here is a Blue Jay from yesterday, patiently waiting for a squirrel to get out of the feeder. Note the one little fuzzy sticking up from his tail.

Mourning Doves anyone. This is just a few of the 40 or, at times I have counted, 50 or so of these birds that eat at Tubby's Diner. They like to sit right next to the house when the sun is shining. It is warmer there.
Mr. Red-Belly was enjoying some suet. Mrs. came by later.
And last for now, is a picture of a male finch doing Lord knows what. Looks as though he is catching snowflakes in his beak! Camera was on the wrong setting, so please pardon the picture quality -- or not.

I know you are probably getting tired of my cardinal photos, but after waiting so long for him to stick around, I can't help but take more pics of him, he actually got down on the ground today and I got him.
