Daily Bird Pics Vol. 370

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Resin, thanks for fixing my photo!

Granny, looks like your little chickadee doesn't care if the feeder is damaged-cute.

Rose, your birds are just beautiful! Love that cardinal's pose!

I decided to try to enhance it a little, this is what I came up with, he does look a little better, not so washed out.

Hey, burn, I liked the pic of the common Redpoll.

Burd_Fotos - that Red-tailed Hawk looked good.

reddirtretiree - that was a nice capture of the male Purple Finch, I'll I've seen look like females. Resin said that their maybe a few males among mine, still, just haven;t got their colors, yet. AND those Wood Ducks and Northern Shovelers are beautiful.

tigerlily - Wow, I've never seen a Townsend's Warbler, pretty and unique looking.

teddy_8905, in that pic of the rain, I didn't see any cats and dogs :-) AND you did a good job with picturesque male Cards. AND your tweaking of the downward looking Car does have better color, but it looks like me he is kinda' out of focus.

Resin, nice tweaking of lily's Townsend's Warbler.

ducbucln - I wonder what had the attention of these three Double-crested Cormorants? Nice shot. I really liked the look of the Chestnut-backed Chickadee (Resin did a good job tweaking it).

GrannyGrunt - I'm looking forward to seeing your new feeder. I've been looking around for one to feeder whole shelled peanuts from, but to me all the ones I see have wire mesh that I don't know if the birds can get the peanuts out of.

dellrose - nice shot of the Dark-eyed Junco. I'm still waiting for some to show up here.

Enjoyed all the pictures folks.

Hack, I hope that feeder arrives soon. I also ordered a feeder for peanuts in the shell. Saw a nice one for shelled peanuts too. If I can find that again, I'll ship you the link.

Well, color me wrong, I said I had never seen a squirrel eat suet, well I did this morning. I looked out and he was just chowing down on it. They usually don't go to it but maybe it was because I had not fed them yet. They get very upset if their food is not out there in short time! He was actually on the feeding platform on the tree with his tail twitching like crazy! Yep, Hackster, the Card was kinda out of focus, the way they have been eating and flying if I hadn't shot quick I probably wouldn't have gotten him at all. It is snowing AGAIN, we have about 2 inches and more is forecasted. Have to love Ohio in winter, they say not too much snow and we get a bunch, they say a lot and only get a inch! Go figure.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Red, super photo of that eagle!

Teddy, enjoy that cardinal-he's good looking.

Here's another Chestnut-backed Chickadee.

I really wish I could have had a little sun instead of thick fog when I found this Blue-gray Gnatcatcher at the park. My book says they are similar to mockingbirds, except these little ones are just 4 inches and this one is minus a tail-glad it got away from whatever was attacking.

I would have liked to grab the fishing line, but the tree was hanging out over the water.

This Downy Woodpecker was too close to my camera, but I didn't notice it until my hubby told me to turn slightly.

Great pictures. My goodness Duc, a person can count the feathers on the woodpecker. Beautiful.

We moved the suet cake from the latticework to the shepherds hook, hopefully it won't take too long for the babies to find it. The squirrels will have a hard time trying to eat off of it, they can't hold onto the shepherds hook very well, we saw that in the summertime when we had the seed bell on there. They keep sliding off.

Enjoyed all the pics. but especially enjoyed the Double-crested Cormorants on top of the tree. Wahhh, teddy. You're having some snow there! For the SE folks, we're bracing for a snow storm here too. Duc, here is another cutie-pie lookin at us. :)

Not worry Teddy, they will find it!! LOL

Lily Love, nice Housefinch. Would you like a few more. My goodness, the are eating me out of house and home.

I am so sick of Winter--already!!

Lakeview, OH

You are right, they found it, at least the Downy woodpecker did. My colorful friend was back and I got him, this pose was him saying here you go, here's my back! My camera battery was getting low, but I just turned it off and just watched him. I think he likes the platform feeder on the tree, he stayed for a good long time.

Oh..burd right back at you - great shots

Lakeview, OH

Great one of him looking right at ya! Wow, I bet that was pretty exciting, the only one I have been able to get is the one I posted before, when they are around, they are pretty well camoflagued so the little birds can't see them. But that was a great one. They are all.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

duc - foggy or not, your pic of the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher turned out sweet.

Lily - I liked the colors on the male HOFIN.

teddy - What is in the feeder that your red friend is enjoying?

Burd - all your pix of the R-t hawk are just super!

I have six from this morning I'd like to share.

This Brown-headed Nuthatch was high up in an oak tree. The 400 nailed it.

My last one for now.

This Ruby-crowned Kinglet was either at the suet feeder or on the ground eating spillage.

Lovely pics. Hack. How did you make the brownheaded Nuthatch to have that blue sheen? I saw one last week and was wondering you get to see them too where you're. Now this posting just answered my question. Love those little ones. I saw a few 'goldies' here beside the HOFIN.

GrannyG. Like you, I'm ready for spring, and wishing winter soon be behind us. On the HOFIN...they sure can eat their share can't they? I don't mind them much for I cheerish the memory of watching them bringing their fledglings to the feeder in the spring. They sure are good nuturing parents.

One more, I was wondering how in the world a bird was gonna get a peanut out of the mesh feeder I placed them in. Well, today, I watched a Titmouse peck, peck, peck away at a peanut. In fact, it stayed longer than usual as it pecked away. It was successful in pecking a peanut into pieces, through the mesh. It ate the peanut one little piece at a time. If you look carefully, you can see the peanut it was working on.

Lily, I didn't do anything on purpose to blue-tint the B-h Nuthatch. I didn't fire the flash, probably should have. When I lightened up the pic with Elements 7, to see it better, it took on a blue tint, I didn't try to correct it.

Burd, Love your ones of the Red-tailed Hawk!

Hack, Nice pics! I really enjoy seeing the Nuthatch and Kinglet!

Lily, Wonderful job on that pic of the Warbler and Downy!

Great pics everyone!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thank Pelle, Hack I used to have Kodak easyshare program where I can edit my photos. Now that I use a Panasonic I don't have a program to modify the pics. DD is coming home sometimes in the spring to help install some program on the pc for me. Can't wait. As far as peck peck peck for peanuts. These guys/gals prefer to sort them (peanuts) out at the feeder, then carry them away to peck at on a remote site. Redheaded Wp. I think this is the Misus, for she's a tad bigger than her mate.

Wow folks, great job again today. Burd, those hawk pictures are awesome. Looking right at you. Stunning!

Hack great shots, and that mesh peanut feeder shot nails what you mentioned on the thread yesterday. I stopped using mine, it was too darned cruel to watch the little things work that hard.

Lily I totally agree re. the housefinch. Wish I could see a Pine Warbler.

I used Kodak Easy Share until I got another camera. Picasa is a good free download site with some good editing features, also has on-line photo storage.
