DAILY BIRD PICS VOL. 369

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Lots of great pics here if if you wish to go back or missed it! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1147009/

Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday!

So great to be starting a new year and I just can't wait to see what new birds I might add this year. Or maybe I finallly might get photos of those birds that are already on my list but have escaped my camera lens so far!!

I wish I had something new to start this thread, but how about a Pileated Woodpecker from a couple days ago to start.

Just took this one of a Dark-eyed Junco!

I can't wait to see what you all have been seeing!

Thank you Nan, for the new thread. Love, love your pileated wp, I can't never have enough since I've yet seen single one in person. Maybe, my dream of seeing one will become true this new year. :-) I like the Mr. & Mrs. Cardinals and the dark eyed junco too. I have one new 'lifer' a small flock of Hooded Mergansers but I don't have a clear enough pix to share. On the theme of woodpeckers, here is Lord Byron my beloved Redheaded wp just a little while ago. Haven't seen my Redbellied lately.

Yah, I needed help with this one's identity. First I thought it was a goldfinch, a pine siskin? I'm at a loss.

Cannot beat starting a new thread with a Pileated, Nanny. Thanks.

Wonderful pictures folks.

Not much doing here today, but I did get a quick shot of a couple of "flitters" being "sitters". Geez! I want to be sure I do make a typo on this one!! LOL

Mr. Red bellied would not let Mrs. Red bellied eat at the suet feeder while he was there.

Here, both make their way to the top of the tree. Note the Starling Street-Gang member making it a three-some.

Thanks Hack for the Pine Warbler I.D. GrannyGrunt, great shot of the trio wps and the street-gangster Starling. lol. Nice pix.

Hack, me too. I'm glad the Byrons' still come by for a quick visit every now and then since their castle has been blown away by a storm in the recent past. Cardinals are regular here as well.

This one was just identified by Resin as a female Baltimore Oriole.

Thanks Nanny, that was a nice start, always nice to see the Pileated WP. Great job with the Red-bellied WP.
Happy to hear Lord Baron is still sticking around, Lily. It's a lovely bird.

There were two male Hairy WP in the yard, they kept chasing each other around. This one took the platform feeder, while the other took possession of the suet feeder.

Yay Redpoll! More are being reported in Chicago suburbs!

GG, Love that trio shot. Too fun to see both sexes at once!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Burn, the Redpoll is adorable! I don't get to see them down South. Awww, Gardenpom your Baltimore Oriole reminds me of one I had last winter. So far it hasn't returned here. I'd put up nectar feeder for the one if it decides to 'come home' to me.

Nice photos everyone, especially the Pileated - one bird I've seen, but only gotten a couple "just ok" shots. Here are some Hooded Mergansers
