saving seeds in a freezer

I asked this in the seed saver forum, but would like to ask it here as well. Is it OK to store seed (dry, commercial, in packets), in sealed glass jars in a freezer (not the one in the refrigerator, I have a regular food-storage freezer.) Thanks!
