You might have to zoom in quite a bit on this junco, when you do you will find out that he is running.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Resin... thank you for the fresh start! Love your Robin!

Gardenpom... I like your Christmas hawk!

Nanny... same to you! Beautiful Cardinal!

dellrose... your Christmas greeting is so cute!

teddy... great pic of your Downy!

Grannygrunt... I loved all your woodpeckers!

Duc... Those Acorn Woodpeckers are so cool! Wish we had them!

Mrs Ed... your birds certainly are pretty sitting in that dogwood! Nice shots all!

Lily... nice cardinal. Wow! Snow in your neck of the woods!

Hack... you certainlty have many nice visitors to your feeders! Since I don't see them here, I especially like the Pine Warbler.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

In amongst the busy-ness of Christmas Day with three girls under 13, I was able to get a couple of shots of my feeder visitors!

Here is a Mockingbird...
I think he's saying, "What are you looking at??? Take a picture, it lasts longer!"

I've enjoyed the snow while it lasted. However, my little feathered friends didn't know what to make of those little fluffy flakes doing down here in winter. lol. Hack, love your backyard friends. I'm glad you've seen the Brown Headed Nuthatch. I've missed them since the Fall. Please send some back to me for the Holidays. Once again here is to wishing everyone a happy Holidays.

Thanks Hackster, the last picture you posted was the tip I needed. It was a Carolina Wren.

Lakeview, OH

I hope he comes back, I would like to take a picture of him, I mean I love all the other birds we have, but it is always exciting when a new one pops by. Still have not gotten the big woodpecker to stop long enough to get a shot, he is one elusive bird. I went down the street the other day following him from tree to tree, I am trying also to get a picture of a junco again, I think this is a better one than the other one, it is closer.

Mrs Ed, I love the red branches of the Dogwood with your sparrow and junco look so pretty and colorful.

Hack, looks like you have an orange-variant House Finch. According to what I've read, the colors are from the berries that they eat. You could send me one of those Palm Warblers anytime-I love their color.

Teddy, great photos of the titmouse and chickadee.

Wild Rose, great shots of the mockingbird and chickadee.

I have a mockingbird with an attitude too.

This Red-tailed Hawk had some sort of growth on the chest-either that or it swallowed something.

Here's one of my Cedar Waxwings. We aren't seeing as many as we usually see here.

Here's another shot of an Acorn Woodpecker from a couple days ago.

The Red-tailed Hawk had eaten something, maybe a squirrel.

Lovely pics guys!!

The only birds I have been seeing today are the Juncos, Chickadees, and Tufted Titmice. There are not very many other ones around, oh also the downy woodpecker. Those are the only ones that have been around. The Downy must have either heard or saw something that bothered it, it was on the suet cake but he was not eating. He was just perched on it not moving at all.

Forgot to tell you folks how much I enjoyed your pictures. Wish I would see a Cedar Waxwing!!

European Starlings really are pretty in spite of themselves!

This female House Finch is Miss Piggy. Look at how many seeds she has stuffed in her beak!!

Two male House Finch. The one on the right looks as though it is missing one eye. Could just be the way the camera caught it.

Wow, so many great pictures. I'm too far behind to mention all my favorites, but they are all great. Duc, especially love those acorn woodpeckers and GP jealous of the palm warbler. Resin, your robins are so pretty. Are those conifers some of the threatened varieties that you cultivate?

House finch at the sugar water feeder. Not as pretty as your GG. Those two in the last pic are gorgeous.

Orange-crowned warbler at the sugar-water feeder.

Yellow-rumped who flipped completely around between the time that I pressed the button and the camera finished taking the picture. That's why his feet are blurry.

House finch standing up to a house sparrow. You go girl! (Sadly, they are sparring over a broken fountain.)

This pine warbler is from yesterday. Sadly, the weather forecast changed from a light barely freezing am temp to a long good freeze. I was not ready. See the pretty Angel Trumpet buds behind this guy. They froze. Some still look OK, but they will probably go down tonight.

A shame about the freeze, Elphaba, but a cutie bird.

Glad to see the male Red-bellied WP, GG. I have only seen one this season. I mostly see the one female. Your house finch has conjunctivitis. It's a widespread disease in that species. Some info on Cornell about it. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/hofi/abtdisease.html

teddy - glad my pic did the trick for you. Wait til you hear one, they are LOUD.

ducbucln - you have woodpeckers I've never seen. Nice pix.

GrannyGrunt - yep, they are pretty, those European Starlings. I sometimes see that eye condition in some of my HOFINs

Elphaba I've never seen a Orange-crowned warbler, nice snap.

I have a lot of Chipping Sparrows here.

Been seeing more Blue Jays lately. I had at least 5 at one time today. They'd fly from a tree down to the ground, back up to a tree, back down to the ground, back up to a tree, and etc. and etc.

I LOVE Cardinals!! They are just starting to arrive here..so I am soon going to get sunflower seeds for them. Of course I have yet to get photos of them this year.
The other day I saw two Red headed Woodpeckers that I've never seen before! I had a Ruby Throated Hummingbird this past summer..we NEVER get them here...apparently their habitat in Mexico is being threatened so they are now coming to Texas for a few months before going to Mexico!! It was a joy indeed!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Lousy picture (I only had a short lens with me,) but good enough to confirm that I had a life list bird. Snow Bunting. I had seen what I thought was two separate flocks while driving. And looks like I was right!

Thumbnail by Mrs_Ed
Lewisville, TX(Zone 7b)

Oh wow.... I never heard of them MrsEd then I looked them up & they are very close looking to a sparrow.... not necessarily the size however.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Very cool...Congrats Mrs. Ed!!
