Sorry about missing in action..been in bed since early Thursday...downstairs to feed the furries then back in bed for me...if ever a day was good to have a sick day it was yesterday, talk about a blizzard..drive got cleaned out but walkways need done, seeing as I'm bedridden they'll just have to stay as is for now unless I get a sudden burst of energy.

Haven't read previous posts but will do this afternoon, in the meantime, stay warm/stay safe, take the time to do something special for yourself today...

Betty, I sure do hope you feel better soon.. know lots of folks down with a nasty 'tummy bug' here in TBay.

We had snow overnight, and the temps warmed a bit, but, not much .. I think it's about -25C (-33C with the windchill)
No doubt Lorna will have the driveways to do next door, this afternoon we're off to the border to pic up a package I ordered and had forgotten about !!

Hope everyone has a good weekend whatever it is you do ^_^

Going back "M" to look at the photo's of Lorna..hydrolic..got to say when we used to watch, now I'm telling my age 'the bionic' man we thought it was just too far fetched and now look at us, far more advanced than the shows...lordy he was a looker wasn't he? wishing Lorna the best..

Bitter cold here as well, yesterday was blizzard day, all cleaned up so am ready for the next dump...Susan wow -41, not sure what our wind factor is...know police were saying this morning they were concerned with a few old souls out on the street, seems they are not at their normal haunt..did you hear last week when the lady with alzheimers left her house during the night, knocked on doors, screamed and people heard her and not one called 911 and she passed on..had a lawyer discussing it and said nobody did anything against the law, I think that is WRONG!Hope they have a nightmare or 2....

"M" was sad about the policeman and this morning a heard that a drunk driver had rammed a police car and 2 officers were injured..not sure if they are critical, have to turn the radio on and see how they are doing..getting almost as bad as Miami, they lost 2 officers the other day!

Took a quick run in Walmart as I don't want to be without stapples just incase we get more of the same..glad I got that little freezer last week, can get a bit more than usual.

Had bought a computer desk last week, was still sitting in my vehicle, not sure I feel like putting it together today but at least I'll have my Tim Hortons coffee and donut while reading the instructions..that ought to really confuse me.

WELL .. TBay hit a record LOW temp this morning .. -46C .. hasn't been that low since the mid 60s!!
Walked out the backdoor with the dogs at 6am, and the outside aluminum door just CRASHED shut behind me !!! For a sec I thought I had broken the glass !!!
But .. ONLY IN CANADA .. It is now about - 18C and snowing (to the tune of perhaps 10cm)

Cooking a turkey dinner tonight .. just because :-)

Hope everyone is doing well

I thought you would like to see a nicer pic of Bunny- now called Buddy and in our foster care- we now know he weighs 40 lbs and has actually probably lost a few in the past couple of months! More likely he should be about 20 lbs! Wonder if they do lipsuction on dogs? He will probably need a tummy tuck !

Much warmer here the past few days but I slipped off a footstool on Friday ( went down 2 steps instead of 1) and fell, jammed my left knee so I am not walking much to rest it .So not walking the dogs either.

The place I have been able to park my car inside since Nov is rented from lst Feb so I will be outside again. A neighbor very nicely came over Friday with his snowblower and cleaned off my parking pad.

The storm made a cake in the yard.I can't see muck of the pond but there must be some open water by the look of the squirrel tracks in the snow.

wow - Buddy DOES look like he should lose a "few" pounds.
Ouch, Carol - that must have shaken you up quite a bit, to slip off the footstool. Please take care of yourself. I know it would scare me if I'd recently had surgery, and then slipped like that. Put your feet up and tell the dogs they have to wait....... you're having some hot cocoa!!! ^_^

Well, we had our Robbie Burns dinner last night - a Harpist, Celtic Choir, and Highland Dancers!
The church choir sang as well, and we had fun.
The piper piped in the haggis, one of our congregation recited the Toast to the Haggis, and another fellow toasted "to the lassies" while I did the "reply to the toast to the lassies" by roasting the Laddies LOL It was all so much fun!!

Carol, omg girl, you are doing far more than you should be doing and up on a stool is definately a no/no ... am sure you've already been told that so just going to send warm hugs and some prayers that you mend quickly...took a bad fall about 2 months ago and still feeling it. Look at Buddy, few pounds off but looks as though he's found a wonderful home..

Not sure "M" if we've broken any records but got to tell you its '(*&^%^& cold here...must go out and make sure my car starts..wouldn't hurt my feelings to stay home today but had better not.

Love the photo's..lol at the birthday cake, see you've left a few garden items outside as well..everytime I drive in my yeard I see a Muskoka chair, foot rest and side table sitting there, don't know how I missed putting them away.... are you also getting this deep freeze...

Susan, sounds like a wonderful evening you had...official RobbyBurns holiday is tomorrow right? Love highland dancers..must be because I love to step-dance..

As I sit here I can hear my furnace running almost non stop..best I dress warm this morning..

Got to run, have Noah with me this week as Melanie and Greg are in the Dominican..think we should have made it a family vacation..he just had to rub it in yesterday saying 'mom, don't know how I'll handle 30 degrees'
I said I hoped it rained; I'll be in trouble if it did..lol...

Noah had hockey practice this morning, hockey mom picked him up at 5am...now can you tell me why 12 year olds have 5am practice and adult teams 7:30am...much too early for me..you have to love hockey to get up that early...

Need a coffee...gab later

Busy people ^-^

I think Buddy looks a wonderful gentle soul .. sorry to hear about your tumble .. i use a step stool as well and I find myself being so careful when I step down .. I sure hope you didn't injure your knee too badly ..

Joy ..the 'icing' on that cake is perfection ^_^
Love to see the fresh new snow, don't even mind shoveling it if it isn't too cold out.
I have a couple of 'leftovers' outside as well .. the chimenea is covered with a tarp in the middle of the dogs enclosure .. I had every intention of using it on 'nice' days .. well .. the snow started falling and there was NOWAY that was going to happen ..

Susan ... your Robbie Burns celebration sounds as though it was an awesome event ..

Hope all goes well with Noah this week Betty .. and .. I agree with the 5am practice time .. way way too early. BIG kafuffle re that her in TBay last year, and, as they say "the squeaky wheel gets the grease' .. no more early practices for the under 13s.

Supposedly will be getting more snow throughout the day .. but .. neither here nor there as the temps are very nice ..

Enjoy your week everyone

Hello to all! Boy you guys are a busy lot - tires me out just reading about what is going on. Cold here as well but only the last couple of days then warming up and forecasting rain for Thursday. We sure don't need anymore rain around here.
My basement flooded last week. I paid big bucks this year to have new drainage pipes put in around the house and the drain pipe is buried except for about a foot at the end and that froze and the water backed up into the house. The water table is still very high and the ground that saturated. Figure it started to freeze right after we had all the flooding and slowly backed up into the house. I had 6 inches of water in the basement. Fellow that helped me out drove a screwdriver into the end of the pipe and a 6 inch plug of ice flew out and a gush of water like you wouldn't believe - a 4 inch inch pipe and it ran full bore for a few minutes before it settled down to just a steady stream. The basement immediately started to drain. Have the pipe covered and insulated now so shouldn't happen again. Lots of people prepared for flood damage around here now so had pumps brought in, then shop vacs and now have 3 dehumidifiers running.
Fortunately the basement in not finished - a little drywall around the laundry room and a room where I start seeds in the spring. No flooring. I lost one electric heater but washer and dryer seem to be fine. I cleaned out the freezer and will have someone look at that before I use it.
So that is my excitement - made me mad that it happened now and not when everything else flooded and the government giving help and money hand over fist, but thankful for helpful friends and a quick fix.
Stay warm everyone.......Laurie

What a lovely photo, very refreshing!
Laurie, a wet basement , yikes I hope not to many things were spoiled and it drys quickly!
Lorna seems to be the bionic woman for sure.

We are now having a warm spell, I can smell spring even though it's under 3 ft of snow.
First we had lots of snow and now we are having lots of mush!.
Neighbor is moving and got a 5 ton truck from Uhaul. He got it stuck 2 houses from his home. Helped dig it out and noticed it's from Arizona and it has well used rain tires on it.
Shame on you U Haul!!! This young family is now in dire straights because he didn't refuse this truck! It's now full and stuck again! No amount of digging got it going anywhere.
Got to count my blessings as I'm not moving with a 4 month baby and two year old.
Our snow is snow not mud or straight water and the sun is warm and the days are longer. So I will wish a Sunny day for you all too.

Hi all:

Haven't any time to catch up with the list as getting a myriad of last minute things done to leave for my trip to Lake Atitlan in Guatemala on Saturday. Two weeks of sunshine and warmth - Yippee!

But I just had to pass this along since I figured all the DG-ers both east and west of here would get a real laugh out of it:
